or have I?
right this is what I've done.
Had to reset the router, as i've lost the wireless passkey/word thing and the router is no longer near where it can be used wired (re decorated our spare room so the pc is on the landing and the ps3 in the room)...Router is a Netgear DG 834G v3 (few years old)
my ISP is AOL (but don't hold it against me, I know they are a bit poohbear) now when I hover the curser over the icon it shows that connection available, but when I try and log in it fails to connect. Tried using IE and same thing...run diagnostic check and I get DNS failure.
I can/have managed to get to the Netgear site, but there is nothing in the DNS box
Re-installed AOL still no joy
tried following the "fixes" from AOL home site (printed from work) no better
using the CMD prompt thing I can ping Netgear succesfully so there is some communication.
main question is can I repair the DNS problem my self or am I going to have to phone AOL and have a 3hour conversation with them?
(using works pc just to avoid confusion as to how I'm doing this right now, but work won't let me into you-tube, bay of fleas etc)
edit* should mention that I live in the dark ages and the machine runs XP
