Hi everyone just spent most of the day reading through some interesting posts on the forums.
I'm Currently looking for a cheapish lwb diesel to use for a bit of off roading.
I did have a swb shogun a few years back and did a coule of ay and play days in it but had to be a bit reserved as it had just cost me £7000.

Been looking on fleabay at quite a few mostly 2.3 or 2.5's most of which need some work which doesnt both me as i'm a time served mechanic

which would you recommend and also is it better to go for the leaf or coil sprung versions for off roading

any other advice into off roading one of these would be appreciated

Hi Mate, Welcome and enjoy. Regarding which fronty it has to be a 2.8 TDi but as carl said we are biased. ATB. Reeco

If your using the car for offroading leaf suspension is slightly better, but it has to be new (not sagged) or uprated (very easy to do).

Thought saying that coils are more versatile.
In retrospect you can choose your stiffness .

It all depends how extreme you would like to go

as for the diesels the 2.3 is a good machine on and off road but the 2.8 is far supierior

thanks for the welcomes, just got me a fronty... 2.3 lwb leaf sprung in red
with an engine problem body and car is mint condition with full set of mud tyres on it L reg £150
