There has been the same sort of problem on Cannock Chase (Staffordshire)
except there they were using sea fishing line across the trails...
This was more aimed at bike riders and horse riders...but again its still well out of order for anyone to do this type of thing anywhere....just hope no one gets hurt by the people that do this

we could always do a major protest on the june event weekend all who attend could go down the viking way at 2 miles a hour ( pretty fast for a green lane me thinks ) and when we reach his land we could tie tow ropes to his doors and his tractor at inbred hillbilly hight people like this are what makes britan what it is today violent and boring

:x :x :x
very upset now about this i may have to do some investigating to see what the police would do if someone was hurt while riding a horse or driving or even walking on the viking way buy this sort of thing

There is no proof that is was the farmer, and until there is there is nothing any body can do.

no think im a little misunderstood on my last post
what i ment is ill talk to my mate who is a notts constab officer and ask what would be the corse of action if a horse rider or cyclist or rambler was to become injured due to people doing this sort of thing

due to the nature of the items being placed over the viking way there are defanatly some avenues he could possibly chase up for me to find out what can be done to prevent this weather he could suggest to the grantham constab or maybe have a word with the local council ect ect

example
if someone was riding a horse and the horse got caught on one of those blocks of wood the horse would throw the rider possibly causing a death or serious injury to the rider the horse would then bolt possibly causing more destruction to other people or crops ect

now that is down right disgusting behavior, i hope whoever it is gets thier comeuppance and quickly, there was a similar incident up near me, a farmer was fed up of ramblers and cyclists using his land, so he put down snares and traps to catch ramblers with he got caught and fined £10,000 plus paying damages to the two ramblers he had hurt with the traps,

Also an incident happed at the beginning of the year where a group of two vehicles took a wrong turning (within 10 miles of this point), bad map reading, they realised their mistake

I'm not really sure what to make of this item cribed off another web site.
I know the viking way very well you would really have to be pretty dumb to get lost or take a wrong turn on most if not all of the viking way. Could this item itself be an effort by someone to put people off traveling the lane?

Incidentally if some would would like to remind me say 2 weeks before your trip to Stainby I'll check with my local sources about any known TRO's and or other problems and if i get the time give the definitive map at Lincoln CC a look over.

Could you check things out for me please, many thanks, Ian

Ian I went down the Viking way and posted this thread up afterwards
http://fronteraowners.co.uk/v-web/bulle ... sc&start=0

at the moment there are no known TRO's. I also went down to Lincoln CC to view the maps which they have now ALL been put on computer. The system they are using is very poor and you are viewing a small area on a 15" monitor. I found it almost impossible to use and took an age to find places and lanes. If you zoom in below 1:50.000 the map markings BOAT, Rupp, etc disappear.
I'm all for progress but this was bloody stupid and you are only allowed 1 hour (as they only have 1 terminal you can use) unless you book before hand.
Sorry Lincs CC you really need to rethink this. :?
