Just saying hello

Postby dungflinger on Wed Mar 28, 2007 11:35 am

Well here I am, John aka "the bear" saying hello
As if fiddling with a Skyline wasn't enough?!
I have now decided to make a moderately off road vehicle
I say moderately, as I wish to use it on road as a runner also

The idea? :? :? :?

Is to be able to get around a few fields and bumps without any problems
I can let my friends winch me out of the myre :P
When I get stuck

Anyhow, my plans(which are most probably all wrong, as always)

Firstly Lots and lots of Chav retina burning lights
I hate people who drive around in their saxo's with those damn fog lights on
Right back on course.....
I am going to use BF Goodrich tyre for now M/T 225/75/16
Now this is the bit I need some help with
I would like to lift the rear of my fronty(coilovers)
So which parts do I need?????????
The front is easy(torsion bar)
How high can I lift the back with just some springs?????
And what other things will I need to do, to make them work?

This is all I wish to do for now, get some clearance and burn Chavs retinas

So I would be grateful of any help please

Welcome aboard!

Explorer Procomp can sort you out with a lift kit, quite a few of us are using this kit :)

I could also recommend Kumho 834's, they have a similar tread pattern to BF MT's but are a damn sight cheaper and very quiet on the motorway.
Currently on Frontera No.3..
ES9000's, 3" Suspension lift, Kumho 834 MT's.

Welcome Dungflinger

Have a read through this regarding a suspension lift.

The coil sprung rear is not "coilover" by the way.

The cheap option is longer or stiffer coils and longer reach shocks at the rear and longer shocks at the front with a torsion bar tweak as you have already suggested. This will give you about 2" of lift - any more and you will loose front suspension droop.

You might also want to think about panhard rod relocation and securing the coils in place as with longer shocks, they potentially can fall out. The rear brake bias valve will need relocating as well.

Hope that helps
