Cleaned up the replacement fuel tank guard ready for a coat of paint later and fitting hopefully on sat. Last job for the MOT on Monday.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

Took it to the local Turkish car wash to get all the mud washed off, they gave the roof a good going over with the jet wash and the moon roof no longer leaks :D
Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one :-(

Well, O-no's MoT came and err went on Monday... :axe: followed by a quick trip to the local factors and getting the bits on order for the morning.


Today, after the bits were dropped off saw me...

Ripping off both the rear calipers and fitting new ones.
Stripping the rear disks off to get the mud out so I could have a fighting chance of adjusting the handbrake.
Re-wiring the front O/S sidelight after the stupid connectors to the lamp holder fell apart in my hand.
Securing the O/S headlight, seems the MoT tester fella isnt into wobbly headlights... That one (the headlight) ain't gonna wobble no more!
And finally, front N/S wheel bearing changed.

Made it to the MoT testing place for 14:30 and a re-test only to be told to come back for 16:00 so went for a little drive and, being mindfull that I had only put 10 litres in to the tank when I re-fitted it on Monday I figured I'd better put some more go further juice in.

On the way to the petrol station I found a small tree that had fallen down in the hedge, or rather the N/S door mirror found the ****** tree branch :thumbdown: New mirror glass arrives at the factors in the morning :thumbup:

Oh and the MoT, did it pass? Aye we got back there for 16:00 and was given a Pass Cert :party:

Clamped to chassis to as and when the sill needs attention they can be removed with a bit of jiggery pockery....

Truck

Replaced the N/S rear axle rubber bump stop or rather swept up the remains of the bump stop mounting bracket, said a few choice words and then fabricated another bracket, drilled and tapped a couple of holes for the bolts, welded it in place and then fitted the rubber bump stop.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

Found a wee hole in the rear N/S sill.... Good job the migs still out!

Started on the 'wee list' the MOT fella handed me on Friday when Truck went in for a late MOT .... :axe:

1. N/S Front Wheel Bearing has excessive play - Adjusted (interestingly, the screws that secure the hub nut only moved by ONE hole once the 'slack' was removed, not much!).
2. O/S Front Wheel Bearing has excessive play - Adjusted (same amount of adjustment as the N/S).
3. O/S Front Anti-Roll Bar linkage has excessive play in a ball joint - Replaced (took two hours to change ffs!).
4. N/S Front Anti-Roll Bar linkage ball joint dust cover excessively damaged - Replaced (to be fair I'm not surprised considering the Truck spent most of 2014 on the Airfield and the building site that was the Tech and Domestic areas. This one only took ten mins to change!).
5. N/S Rear Anti-Roll Bar linkage rubber mounting deteriorated resulting in excessive movement - Removed, awaiting delivery of a new replacement.
6. O/S Rear Anti-Roll Bar linkage rubber mounting deteriorated resulting in excessive movement - Removed, awaiting delivery of a new replacement.
7. O/S Front Track Rod end ball joint has excessive play - ??? (can't find that one, the ball joints appear to be okay even when 'pressure' is applied via a 2ft bar) replacement Track Rod with ends ordered anyway.
8. N/S Front Upper Suspension Arm ball joint dust cover excessively deteriorated - Now loose and ready for replacement (as is the O/S one that he missed).
9. N/S Rear Anti-Roll Bar attachment bracket/mounting insecure - Removed, ready to go back on with new rubber mounting.
10. N/S Rear (front bush) Trailing Arm rubber bush bonding deteriorated resulting in excessive movement - 2 replacements (20 quid from Hughes Scrap Yard, Bicester came off a 97 2.5 LWB with 70k on the clock) sat in shed ready to go on (the originals will then be re-bushed and go on to O-No the ones coming off will also be re-bushed as spares).

Not much really for a 240k mileage truck once you get into it, shouldnt take long to sort once Milners get a grip with the courier and I manage to get the young one to stay in long enough to take the delivery the bits will be going on and the Truck back for a re-test.

As it was dark and wet outside I decided to do my oil change at work in the warehouse at work before I even clocked out as I was getting paid :lol: :lol: :lol:

I put a new Varta battery in my 2.5 . The other one came out of my old 2.3 and is still usable but has been lacking oomph in the cold weather.So its at least 6yrs old. When I made enquiries about a new one, I discovered that it is a 510 CCA (cold cranking amps the higher the number the longer it will turn an engine over for) and what the 2.5 should have is a 680. So for a bit more I got a 780. Quite a difference.I had always thought that it didn't seem to have quite enough go and that explains why. :)
