Hi paul
yes and no as it does have a tro on it at times.
You might like to ask on http://www.lincsoffroad.com which are based around the sleaford area (although they are a little land rover biased they did have a couple of Fronty owners).

Or if you know of ACS computers on the East Road trading estate, Lance one of the owners does quite a bit of off-roading and may also be able to help.

Sorry Paul

Its a Traffic Regulation Order which may prevent you from using a green lane at all times or just during certain times. They are often used during the winter months to prevent a lane from suffering damage.

If you wish to try an easy lane or two there are a few around the Brauncewell area with a very easy lane going from the A17 up to RAF Waddington.
Can I suggest you buy a copy of the Landranger map series number 121 (LIncoln & Surrounding area) and if your not sure where abouts the lanes are I can mark it up for you as I'm only over at Ruskington

one thing Paul I wouldn't try the viking way near Grantham on your own . There are a couple of spots where you can find yourself stuck unless you know it well :(

Hi Paul.

I don't want to put you off, but rule number one of laneing is :

Don't go on your own, especially if you don't know the lane.

If you do go, walk the lane first. Better to be safe than sorry :D

Also be careful on there at the moment as there is a farmer who tends to turn a little bit nasty to say the least and is happy to block it off whilst your on it,two weeks ago a wire was stretched across the lane at neck height :?: .Believe there is more about this on mud-club.com if you want more info.

Andy can you either post a link to the info or give me some idea as to whereabouts this wire appeared (map ref if poss). This foolishness needs sorting before someone is injured.

Paul - I traveled down the strech between the A17 and wellingore today with Lance from LOR and Richard from Sleaford 4x4. Can I suggest as you sound like a 'first timer' you leave it until the weather improves. Whilst most of the track is a dry /stone base some areas are a little difficult with a few deep ruts.

Cribbed off mud-club

Ok

Yesterday after the blocked lane with the tree, we came upon this sign nailed into a tree at SK 869284, on both side of the lane was blocks of wood with 3 inch nails punched through (sound familiar)

Now I walked the lane for a good 1/2 mile in front of the vehicles checking the water holes for obstructions, found none

These blocks were tied in the bushes both sides with bailing string (still attached) about horse head height, not that easy to see I imagine from that height, and there were signs of horses that had used it recently, will post pics of the blocks later

Further down the lane there was a section on the left where vehicles divert off the bad section and round through a small wooded section, we erected the wooden blockage and made good use of the sign from the beginning of the lane

I'm not willing to enter my thoughts on this action, but it is worrying, and as already seen can lead to more nasty forms of deterrent, so please be aware of where you are, you may have the right of way, but not everybody sees it as so

Also an incident happed at the beginning of the year where a group of two vehicles took a wrong turning (within 10 miles of this point), bad map reading, they realised their mistake, turned around and were rather aggressively challenged by the farmer, not going into details on what happened yet to say no person was injured, but there was contact between a farm vehicle and one of the vehicles. There was no signs on the entrance of the lane pointing out any kind of restriction or private road etc

Obiously this person had some dealing before with some people not knowing what as he was not in a talking mood

All I say is make sure you you read your gps/maps correctly, there is obviously some bad blood in this area

o my god how can some people justify that sort of behaviour the farmer in question should by rights be arrested for criminal damages to that vehicle and put in front of a court and ordered to pay damages for what he has done and the grantham paper should be made to cover the story front page

i no some of the farmers in my area are against 4x4s using there tracks but as long as we dont damage anything like crops fences and gates they dont complaine too much ,
i reguiarly sit with two of them in our local boozer and they keep making wise cracks about having to come and pull me out of the dyke i got stuck in the first time i went down there feild perimeters

These were also put up at horse neck height to prevent them from using it too

Now being a horse ridder and a 4x4 owner that is very distrubing, it is the same in the horsey world some people abuse the rights of way and go galloping across farmers fields. I can se why they get annoyed, but that one has gone a little overboard i shant take my horse anywhere near his land.
