WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!I have now fitted the new oil cooler and changed the fuel filter aswel. Priming the fuel system was dead easy thanks to our Manny. He told me to put the airline blow gun from the compreser into the fueltank with a rag and push fuel through the pipes. Started second turn of the key. There's allways a downside! Turns out that the tope hose from the header tank to the top of the engine is perished and can be blown off at the least preasure! So now another new hose.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Hi all,
Today I finally got to drive the Frontera properly, rather than just a test drive round the block. Booked in in this week for full service, cam belt, oil, plugs etc. and it gets a new set of tyres on Saturday. Very strange coming from a Golf TDi to a Frontera Sport, surprised it wheel spun out of the junction Dave
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!You will love it mate. I still have a Golf but sadley my sport has bitten the dust. I have got a new 2.2dti LWB but no where near as good as the sport!!!!

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Bought a pair of Impreza seats to put in it and then, ive somehow ended up buying what i can only describe as the cleanest, infact pretty mint, Astra GTE cabrio, its totally original n standard, even has its original number plates and toneau cover, showing a documented 81k with all receipts.
When i figure out getting pics up il show you all just how good this car is, i cant honestly believe it, i just had to buy it. IF ITS NOT BROKE, YOUR NOT TRYING HARD ENOUGH!!

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!well yesterday i changes the fuel filter and spark plugs on the jag...
sort of found out why it was playing up a little.. 3 of the spark plug holes were full of water.. and it is such fun doing it on a v6... have to remove the inlet manifold to get them... and today i have been doing some wireing. and now my front winch is live CARTREK

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Well today I set about sorting the brakes out on the truck. Striped everything off, cleaned it and put back together with a different rear disk (about 1.5mm thicker) and a new set of pads on the passenger side. Only took about a hour and a half to get the bottom slid pin out. Wednesday I'll set about the drivers side (will be even more fun because the handbrake cable is going to be replaced too)
I also set about changing the maf and tps on the girlfriends ka because it's idling at about 1500rpm all the time. But that made no difference at all. Pulled each ht lead in term and found that pot 3 isn't doing anything. So I'l have to compression test it at some point to see why it's only running on 3. I didn't like ford's before... And I Still dont lol ![]() My 2.8 shorty - now sold, and comments here My old dti - now sold "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW --- What a Ride!" Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Truck is due it's MOT on the 16th and theres a few wee jobs to do before the tester gets anywhere near it so it's now off the road and I've just spent the last hour tipping all the work junk out of it and into O-no ready for work tommorrow.
Jobs to do: Re-furb the back axle I got from Greg before swapping it with the one on Truck (rear wheel bearing has gone on truck and the axle oil is now mostly sat in the handbrake hub.... which might go a long way to explaining why the handbrake is a bit pants on a hill) Change the steering centre tie rod (one rubber has failed on it AGAIN!) Do a minor service on it. Re-furb of the Axle: Strip off all the bolty-on bits, incl handbrake shoes etc - Done Clean up and weld patches onto the spare Diff Cover, then replace the one on the Axle - Done (need to weld that one up now lol) Clean up axle fully and get some paint on it - To do Make up new brake pipes and fit to axle - To do This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Last night I went out to the drive and it took me 35 mi.s to clamp and remove all 4 calipers. Wish I could put it back and bleed them that quick.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!I like that Andy. The Trooper has armrests on the front seats, where as the Frontera doesn't. I find the lack of them annoying now.
As for me I have adjusted a rumbly front wheel bearing, cleaned and refurbed the front manual locking hubs ,given her a fresh dose of oil and coolant, new oil filter ad air filter, and thermostat. Should be ready for the laning in Thetford tomorrow. ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Finished cleaning the replacement Axle for Truck and painted it. Just got to make up the new brake pipes for it and then swap the axles over...
From ![]() and ![]() To.... ![]() Axle to come off... ![]() and ![]() I'll fit the new flexi brake pipes and handbrake shoes once the axle is on the car. Still pondering if it's worth while replacing the bushes at the same time, the ones on the car seem okay, but if they are original (and I'm inclined to think they are) then they will have done something in the order of 226k miles, see what they are like when I drop the old axle. Once I've got the old one off I'll look to replace the bearings and seals, check the tolerences on the diff, fix the cover and give the whole thing a coat of paint. Oh and hide it in the shed ready for the next one! This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Finished work at 3:30 got home put a battery charger on the pickup and had a coffee.
Then started the pickup up first time in about 3 months then moved the shorty off the driveway and moved the 2.8 so I could move the pickup and put it on the driveway and the 2.8 down the side of the house so I can now start stripping it. And finally parked the shorty in front of driveway. It's was like playing Tetris i hate having Dyslexia
