newbie in the wirralhi im jack i have just bought a 2.2 petrol sports frontera

Re: newbie in the wirralyes thanks mate yes ebay at its best was told it had engine management light on lol
once it arrived i got diagnotic machine on it nothing opened the bonnet to check things and oil is a goope of muck no water in header not best please but only cost 255 so it was cheap just have no idea how to fix it and wife thinks i bought a lemmon i can see protential with it just very limited funds as not working after a major heart atack

Re: newbie in the wirraldont worry about the head gasket they really arent that bad to do - they cant be cos i did mine and 12 months later its still going fine !
you will need : a good tool selection ,i got the halfords advanced set for £120 and it had pretty much everything i needed bar a torque wrench . head gasket set inc head bolts oil and filter coolant (red) water pump timing belt kit decent engineer to skim the head . obviously there may be other peripherals you need depending on the state of things as you remove them . viewtopic.php?f=16&t=50758 heres the link to the thread when i did mine . i think mine cost less than £400 including the tool set and the head skim. where abouts in the wirral are you ?

is it on a 1997 P Reg as that would make it a facelift A series rather than an RS sport

Re: newbie in the wirrali had barely opened a bonnet before i did my HG , some very knowledgable people on here and can guide you through it . as somebody said on one of my threads - there is no such thing as a stupid question , just expensive mistakes !
by the way is it sprayed pink or just wrapped ? i seem to remember seeing a pink wrapped one on the bay a while age
