The old "portal" that the Home link used to point to is no more. Simply click on Board Index, folks, then view new posts from there. Jim...

Re: Home section on websiteRight then, for the hard of thinking....
THE OLD HOME PAGE PORTAL NO LONGER EXISTS. www.fronteraowners.co.uk will now take you straight to the board index, and from there you can click on view new posts, or navigate the board normally. Clicking on home will do nothing useful, however this MAY change in future. Remember folks, this site is free and run by volunteers; we've just moved hosts and are looking into upgrading the board software to the latest version. If the worst niggle is that a few bookmarks have had to be changed but all the rest of the thousands of posts, PM's, profiles and such have survived, small price surely? Jim...

Re: Home section on websiteRight the old forum used to have the portal which resolved at fronteraowners.co.uk and the forum resolved at fronteraowners.co.uk/forums during the move/upgrade the portal was removed and the forum now resolves at fronteraowners.co.uk HOWEVER I also setup a forwarder from fronteraowners.co.uk/forums to fronteraowners.co.uk to allow existing forums bookmarks to still work so if you open fronteraowners.co.uk/forums in your browser it will automatically forward you to the forums under fronteraowners.co.uk
The moving of webhosts and files/databases/upgrading etc was no 5 minute job and as Jim said if one of the minor things that went wrong was a dodgy home link then we should all be happy. I have removed the Home link now so everyone should now be able to sleep easy
Re: Home section on websiteI think you have done a brilliant job Brian and a big thank you from FOG for all your efforts mate!!!

Re: Home section on websiteI will second that, great job Strech and a big thanks for keeping FOG running smooth.
It also seems to be a lot faster. ROADS? WHERE WERE GOING WE DON'T NEED ROADS!!
Re: Home section on websiteAaaaaw, where has the home link gone?? I liked it, it did nothing
Sorry, couldnt resist, Brian, I think you deserve a medal, had I not been told, I woulda hardly noticed things had happened, very seamless Now, if you could just send Ste back up files and then after a few weeks ask him to do something with them, and share the reply you get, we can have an even bigger giggle '01 SWB 2.2L PETROL called Stanley Bean
If it's got Tyres or Testicles, it's gonna be trouble!!!
Re: Home section on websiteOut of interest has anyone tinkered with the host records? Or has phpbb been screwing around with virtual directories?
Rule #3: Don't believe what you're told. Double check

Re: Home section on websiteOk i have a bit more info if it helps the admin team. In IE9 everything works hunky dory. If you go to www.fronteraowners.co.uk/forums then it redirects to www.fronteraowners.co.uk as it should when you bash the fog logo at the top it takes you back to the board index as expected.
BUT If you are in Firefox and try www.fornteraowners.co.uk/forums you get redirected to wwwfronteraowners.co.uk which is not a valid HTTP address. Bash the fog logo at the top rather than drop you back to the board index it takes you to the page you are already viewing. So it would appear the issue could be browser specific and if FF behaves in this way its a good bet that Safari is the same and possibly Chrome too! Not complaining just letting you know where the bugs are, I do this for a living! Rule #3: Don't believe what you're told. Double check

Re: Home section on websiteThe redirect works as it should in my FF and Opera, both on my PC and my mobile.
In fact, all my bookmarks still relate to the www.fronteraowners.co.uk/forums/ as I've not changed any, still working just fine geeks. Jim...
