Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Finally got the gearbox fully bolted up. The crossmember back in, tightend up and the gearbox mount bolted back too. Front exhaust section back in, sealent squirted and all done up.
Ratchet winch and frame removed, it worked a treat, the job would have been a right mare doing it on my own and using a trolley jack to support the gearbox. As it is it's taken far too long to do but I'm blaming the weather, work, shopping trips, teenage taxi trips etc etc.... Jobs left to do... Both propshafts, fill gearbox & transfer box with oil, leccy connections to gearbox, gearstick boot thing, connect battery, start it and go break it again... Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!New EGR valve fitted. After reading a thread on here, I removed mine, and noticed that if you pushed in the piston, stuck finger over vac tube, the piston just shot back!, obviously a split diaphragm.
Removed sticking rear calliper, cleaned, re-greased sliders, now no more smells or hot wheel!!. Pads were like new, so just de-glazed them. After these two little jobs, it is literally a completely different vehicle
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!New water pump fitted thanks to old one leaking. Lucky thing though as I found that the timing belt tensioner had a piece broken off that was loose inside the cover, so tensioner replaced as well.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!As the door mirror switch is the favoured cause
of the mirror heaters not working, despite a functioning tell-tale lamp, I removed the switch. After separating the gubbins from the casing I found the contacts inside heavily oxidised. An hour later had the pieces shining and the switch put back together. I will refit the switch later and see what happens. The wiring diagram suggests there will be no difference but I will see.
