FOG Green Lane Gay (N.Wales)
Date (Provisional) Saturday 22nd July 2006
Location: Llagollen area, N.Wales
If there is enough interest, I will lead a Green Lane run around the north Wales countryside on the above date, subject to the group size not exceeding 4 vehicles (a Green Lane Association reccomendation).
That equates to 3 spaces, unless Ste wants to be my gate closer then only 2 spaces, unless we can convince Ste to lead a second group then 6 places.
The route will about 35 miles but will take us about 6-7 hours including stopping for photos and an hour for lunch, but the best bit is that around 75% will be green lane driving.
The route will include the 5 mile long "Wayfarer" and of course the infamous "Corwen Carwash"
I can't promiss you mud, but I can introduce you to legal laning and the breathtakingly beutiful Welsh countryside.
I expect the route will be suitable for standard Fronteras’.
I suppose it is only fair to offer the places on a first come first served basis. Please register your interest, or any questions, below.

Argh, and that was the only real date I had available.
Never mind Ste, you've done the route 2½ times before and the Wayfarer and Corwen Carwash even more so.
So then, there are 3 places available...

To be honest, having seen a few lanes this past weekend, MT's would be overkill.
As a point of interest, I'm running worn AT's. We had a Frontera on worn standard tyres do the route in the snow and a Landruiser do another route on road tyres.
In my oppinion, MT's are more suitable for Pay & Play, AT's should be fine for summer lanining, road tyres should also be ok.
As long as we don't have a huge torrential downpour.

Looks like we have a FOG Green Lane Day comming together.
Everyone ok for Sunday 23rd then?
A rough idea for the day will be:
09:30-10:00 - meet in Corwen, N. Wales
10:00 - start the laneing run
10:05 - the "Corwen Carwash"
10:20 - Start the "Wayfarer"
11:00 - stop at the summit for views/photos/coffee
11:30 - continue the Wayfarer
12:15 - arrive at pub for refreshments (optional), toilets etc.
13:15 - coninue laning and country lanes
17:00 - approximate finish time in Llangollen.
The afternoon will be slightly different to what I've run before, due to a few of the lanes now being out of bounds for vehicles following the NERC Act.
There will be plenty of stops for photos during the day.
Note - there is no charge for your participation (although you're welcome to buy me a Cola at lunch time). Apart from getting there and back, you'll use mimimal fuel. The 30 or so miles will take us most of the day.
BUMPTJ, Apache-Andy, generation-x - could I ask you to pm me your personal email, as there is a booklet I'd like to email over to you, containing some hints and tips, expectations etc.
Let's hope the sun keeps shining.

It's looking good then for the Sunday.
I just need BUMPTJS personal email and I'll send out the booklets next week.
I'll also sort out the SWR meter if anyone needs their CB aerials tuning.
