Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Put a thermostat into the Sport, someone had removed it
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Dropped the tank, straightened (well nearly straightened) the tank guard. Pushed the tank back to the correct shape so should be able to get specified 80 litres in it rather than modified 60 litres.
Removed the suspension lift spring spacers - much prefered it being pushed up higher, but I want to go through the process of elimination to find what is causing the back end UJ's to go prematurely. Done a bit of investigating delving into the non functioning fuel guage whilst the tank is out of the way. Being a diesel, only 2 wires connect to the tank level guage, pushed a straightened paper wire clip into the feed and return connections. Done this so that I could get the multi-meter onto something to get a reading. Bingo, got a reading of 10.75 volts. Disconnected and cleaned up the earth terminal then connected both the feed and return connectors with the single paper clip and checked the guage in the dashboard. Fuel low level warning light off and guage read full tank so all looks promising. Removed the paper clip and low level light comes back on and tank reads empty. So any issues after this as got to be the fuel level float/circuit in the tank giving the grief. Got beaten by the clock going back early darkness so reconnecting the tank as got to wait for the next available day light hours.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Found that my sport has a nasty petrol leak so il be looking into that at some point this week, think its the rubber pipe above the rear axle thats let go as it only leaks when the pumps engaged

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Fitted some "new" tyres on the BGL...they are wicked...
but... with no lift, it cant steer at all, cant flex at the rear, and one of the front wheels wont turn at all due to the "re sculptured" front bumper. Need the forklift out tomorrow anyway, so will stretch the rear archs a bit by lifting the car (and shaking it) by them with the forks if I get chance, front might involve forklift doing some stretching and maybe a modicum of gas axe, and sledge hammer. 35"ish x 11"ish tyres were going to be a challenge on an unlifted LWB A, but I want to keep the low centre of gravity, and cant be assed to lift it, so some "minor" trimming and fettling will be required. Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Used it to drag the caravan down to Devon for a spot of recreational grockling for a few days...
Managed to break it while there. Ended up driving 230 miles home with caravan on the back and a knacked alternator. Odd thing was the dash light never came on at all all the way home, I only noticed it when the window wouldnt work and then voltage gauge had dropped a bit, pulled over and checked the battery with the multi-meter only to find 11.8 volts with the engine running. A quick 'poke' of the alternator with the 2ft breaker bar didnt do anything for it so as it was daylight we set off for home... 230 miles later with no stops (car would not have re-started) got home, lined the van up to back it into the yard and stuck the truck into reverse... And it cut out with the combo blocking the road, the volt drop from the reversing lights had been enough to drop the solonoide on the fuel pump. Lucky, the friendly RAC bod from the bottom of the road was on the way home and we got the truck running enough to get the van into the yard and truck parked. Battery is now on charge for the trip to work in the morning and a new alternator will be getting ordered in the morning. This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Will do tommorow mate,
I am pretty sure they are around abouts the 35" mark, certainly look bigger than a 33"... They are a bit cheeky though aint they, and will come in handy dragging you out Dan! Somehow I think traction on the BGL is no longer going to be an issue...turning might be admittedly, and CV joint survival might be limited...in fact the CV's are almost dead in it already, they are even clicking when going straight now, so I might need to change them before its next outing (or fill the boots with expanding foam so I cant hear them!)
