Its in the old quarry near castleton and its open to people on the left hand side aslong as you dont go over on the right side  , weve been goin up there for years and a couple of years ago they put the large rocks up one side to prevent you driving up the bank side but dropping into the quarry is fine by all accounts.

I know its stupid, all because of the bobble hat brigade, who, by the way, moaned at us on satdy for driving on a ROAD!! , and i do mean a real road with tarmac and everything! W4N<3R$!!
I did my best to make sure we were all within GLASS apart from the slight detour to avoid the cows that is but didnt want to upset them anymore, we were only off piste for 20seconds tho :) .

Rayman, steps off n lift on bud  , save leaving anymore bits of it on the lanes nextime!

The annoying thing was out of the Fronty guys and the walkers I think we were properly equipped.

Most of the so called walker in the group that were moaning were wearing jeans and cotton trousers with no water proofs and a couple of them were soaked to the skin, nobody and I mean nobody should go out into the hills and Dales without the proper clothing.

As we saw the weather can change within minutes ranging from fog to rain, sleet, hail and even snow.

If one of the women soaked to the skin twisted or broke an ankle by the time one of the other in the group got help there would have been more than a fair chance of hypothermia or shock setting in and endangering their life and the life's of the other group members.

In the event of the above happening it would of been one of our group of intrepid 4x4 drivers that could have saved the day and taken said injured nupmty to safety.
Hey Ho rant over
I would prefer a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

Having just come across this video on youtube while looking for something else I found it very disappointing to see members on a FOG trip going off piste deliberately.

See from 3 minutes 50secs

Then there's this one, which appears to be pindale quarry. There's only one route through there, and that definitely isn't it

Then another in Pindale Quarry, off the route.

For anyone in doubt about the legallity of Pindale Quarry please take a look at page 4 of this - http://www.lro.com/images/article_images/Update-October-2009.pdf

I find it really disappointing at time when there's a real fight in the Peaks to keep lanes open that people are still going out and behaving like this.

I've just given up my Sunday to go on the protest in the Peaks against the lane closures and it really makes me wonder what the point is when people continue to behave like this.
There wasn't a single Frontera there, so maybe next time (25th November) folks could spend there time slightly more wisely and take part.

Thanks for pointing this out graigderby.
I will remind members of Frontera Owners Group of the rules.

You agree to follow the rules of the Highway Code, Green Lane Code and club pay and play site rules whichever applies. For greenlane events; All events should adhere to the GLASS Code of Conduct, and please note that Rights Of Way often change and if a TRO (traffic regulation order) has been put in place by the local council you should not drive the lane. If you do not agree to the above you should refrain from taking part in the event.

viewtopic.php?f=1&t=47098

We in no way condone or will be party to any off piste/illegal driving on Greenlanes or any other land.
Any member found purposefully acting in such a way will not be welcome on this forum.

There are plenty of resources to check the status of the lanes on the internet and local authorities so there is no excuse for repeated actions.

We are not all infallible and minor mistakes can happen on the lanes and discretion can be show for this but again I repeat we as a Group distance ourselves from the actions of any member/members purposefully (or not implementing correct checks) breaking the law regarding rights of way.

Hi Martin, its not just about hiding the fact, it should not have happened in the first place by members here if indeed those lanes are closed and there was proven "off piste" activity..
There is more than enough info available and plenty of us her to ask if in doubt.

John Boy/ graigderby do you have any info on the closed lanes please?

Having just read this i must offer my deepest apologies, ive been driving around these lanes for years and i never knew that the left side of that lane was "off piste", or illegal to use in any way, weve been there watching off-roaders, especially motocross bikes since we were kids and after reading those articles im shocked and quite ashamed that i led a group into something that could have dire implications on the group. It was be no means the fault of any of the other members as i was the leader of said group and am embarrassed at my actions. I know this doesnt make up for it in any way, but hope it shows that i genuinely made a mistake. Sorry chaps and i will in future refrain from straying from the clear routes to the best of my ability.

I was going to comment earlier and say before we start the hanging let the people who went on the trip have there say!!
As ste said in his post anyone can make a mistake and go off route without knowing. I can hold my hands up and say that i have driven off route without knowing and it can happen to the best of us. I don't the lanes in question so cannot comment.
To me it seams that Danny has made a mistake and didn't no he was driving off route. It is good to see that Danny has taken full responsibility for the mistake and has been man enough to hold his hands up.
I think this could have been handled better with a simple pm pointing out the mistake instead of talking about it on the open forum.
Its all about educating not pointing the finger.
