New Forntera owner

Postby bill491 on Sun Sep 09, 2012 5:17 pm

Hello All

Ive just joined the group in the hope that there will be sufficient expertise to assist me in the running of my 'new to me' 02 Frontera 2.2 DTI.
Already it appears that the bills wont be long in taking a huge hike up the scale as ive found the clutch slipping, (quoted over a grand for a dual mass flywheel and clutch), tyres wont be long in needing a coat of looking at and the exhaust has just started with a strange note. Oh joy, oh bliss!

I made a start today in getting it into some sort of servicable level where i can maintain it by dropping this very thin and very black water from the sump, looked like it hadnt seen an oil change since new, but ive run into a slight problem with the new filter. I know its that big plastic nut to the side of the dip stick but how the hell do you remove it without damage?

Any advice with the clutch and flywheel would appreciated, where i can get a good manual from and how do I change the filter without damageing the housing all would be good starters for me.

Im not the most clued up mechanic this earth has ever seen so please be gentle with me.

Cheers

Bill
