With a mega effort from Alfie, we managed to swap the axel on my Sport:



The old axel was kernacked- bearings, and diff pinion.

The replacement, albeit having been stored for some time, is a major improvement - no clang when changing gears, and confidence has returned.

The negative is that the rear now has a 1:5.17 diff, whilst the front is still 1:4.56. The bad news therefore is that I can't use 4x4 but the good news is that I can now excede the old 75mph ceiling (if I wanted to) and get a better mpg.

Ended up popping over to fudge's last night, but look what he did to my bullbars


But really, we were just removing them due to the hole-y condition they were in - more the paint holding them together than the metal! Now my car looks rather naked (gives me chance to clean him up a bit before the new ones go on tho)...


Also got a replacement driver's seat fitted too as the support webbing on the existing one had completely broken, meaning I now have a comfy ride at last! Now gotta sort out the brackets from the old one then I can get a bucket seat fitted instead, but that can wait for now. Oh, and also happy that my CB radio does actually work, as I thought I'd fried it a couple of years ago

So far today I have been to Oxford and back in bed by 9 am.
The things Laura wants to do for her birthday get weirder and weirder -we went to see the Olympic torch as she was at work every time it was round here

Fitted new arb bushes on the front as i could see daylight though the old ones.

had a grate day with the truck... i'v changed the engine oil and filter also put a flush in first, then i done the diff oil and drained the coolant and put in fresh, got confused when i couldnt find anywhere to bleed it so i just left the engine running and squeezed the pipes with the top of the headder until the bubbles stopped.all vac picpes have been changed to silicone and front brake discs and pads have been done.a bottle of forte diesel treatment in the tank and a bottle of diesel magic on the next to give it a really good clear out.i brought a spary can of waxoil to try and it is brill, it comes with a little straw and you can get right in all the lil holes.i need another to finish it tho. sidesteps cut and beaten off yesterday. new LUK clutch on order and is booked in for monday. got to get all the running gear sweet for the wales wk end

no breather on my rear diff and i found out iv been driving round with only X2 bolts in my center drive shaft and iv killed the cog inside the brake disc for the ABS so need to order one of them, does anyone know the name of that part please.

went and bought it some new leads plugs oil and fuel filters and was suprisingly cheap 27+vat for the lot company discount and even better i dont pay vat on the company account too roll on the weekend to fittem

Climbed into it and it started first time after me not starting her for ages, and then managed to talk it into helping me remove the hedgerow down one side of the garden, with the help of a couple of shackles and a 14tonne strop Result = Frontera wins!!

Also after id done gardening, i removed the drivers seat and took it to bits so i am now just left with the subframe which i will adapt and fit to my bucket seat so i can use it for laning
