Just an observation Ste, but although it's not the law, 6 in a group can be seen as a tad agressive to the old bobblehat brigade and dont really follow the GLASS code. Just my opinion as they are always gagging for excuses to blame us for wrecking the countryside, global warming, inflation, troubles in the middle east etc...

I can see what your saying Ian but I personally don't think 6 is to many. I wouldn't run anymore than 6 though
The way I see things is bobble hats are going to have a go if there is 2 trucks or 10. The reason off roaders get a bad name is not about the amount of trucks on the lane but the nob heads who go off peace and cut the surrounding areas up, and go on to private land. Some people retaliate if farmers or bobble hats challenge them about being on a lane etc.... Which does not help things either.

Plus its a landy lightweight, so it prob wont make the distance to wales, and if it did they are only wee little things and people seem to have respect for the vintage :)

We do try to run within GLASS guide lines on this forum, well all know now and again circumstances dictate we may need to run a car extra in a group if you loose a leader on a day due to break down or the like but as a forum we recommend the GLASS guidelines also within the Tread Lightly guide lines

Travel with minimum impact

Keep to the defined track. Detour only to pass immovable obstructions.
Be critical of your own driving ability and equipment when assessing an obstruction; it is your right to abate a non-lawful obstruction, but do not commit yourself to a bigger task than you are equipped for.
When travelling in groups, keep to a small number – four or less. Split larger parties up and either use a different route or allow a good interval to elapse before following.
Use a winch only with extreme caution and if circumstances demand it. Ensure you use only the correct equipment and techniques.
Avoid mud. Where the surface may easily be damaged, be very gentle on the throttle to avoid wheel spin.
Never drive on moors and marshland.
Practice minimum impact driving at all times

http://www.treadlightly-uk.org/index.ph ... &Itemid=28

We have to work together to keep are lanes, four may be a small number and personally I think 5 is enough as any more can take away the enjoyment but we all have the responsibility to help maintain our hobby.

Just a thought RE the camping, if we havent got anythiong booked as yet, I remember on the last mad march weekend there was a group of landrovers wild camping within a couple of derelict barns/farm buildings which looked like a cool thing to do. What would peoples opinions be on doing that for one night and then a proper campsite for the other night? - Just realised perhaps not such a good idea for the caravaners. I think the caravaners should grow a pair and man up and take a tent :) (oh yeah thanks for the lend of the fan heater last time dave  )

Really looking forward to this.

Just a few jobs left to do on the lwb, fix the head gasket being the biggest one.

2" lift fitted and the 265 75 16s fitted, the rough country shox also soft bull bar and spots all fitted shame the gasket let go 350 miles after I spent the money on the other bits and bobs.

Is there likely to be much deep water ? I don't intend fitting a snorkel to this truck but may modify the airbox a little and add a length of ducting to move the air intake to the rear of the engine bay but this needs to be removable so as not to impact on the fuel consumption and performance for the longer journeys.
I would prefer a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.
Seek not excess, God hates he who roams !
