Took a load of rubbish to the tip. Good job that i had taken my light bar off as there is now a hight restriction at the tip, my arial catches the bar but my roof rails miss by about 2cm . They are trying to stop companies in unmarked vans from dumping.

yes mate. had a look on that milweb site you said about but couldnt find the paint...sorted for panel wipes, tack cloths n mix cups though

Got the electric fans wired in and tested, that just leaves the 2 overide switches to do. The wiring looms are all ready, just coiled up under the bonnet, it was raining so I was reluctent to be pulling the glove box and dash apart.

Just for info, the range for the temp switch to cut the fans in and out is 88 in and 79 out, using a "Fluke" meter temp probe in the header tank the fans cut in at 83 and out at 75 (appreciate the header tank will be cooler). However, when the fans cut in the temp gauge was showing 3/4's ( this being the mark above the horizontal marker being half), this leaves one more marker (full) before you get to the red.

12 months ago I fitted a new stat (82 degree) for the winter and thats roughly where the neddle pointed then, though I changed it back for the old one as it ran cooler.

Those with 2.8's, where does any one elses' needle read when the stat opens as I think my gauge may be reading high!

Ian check your stat as mine was like that and it was stuck open changed it and now sits just above a 1/4

Never seen mine go any higher than 1/4 and that was round the Yorkshire dales with a car and trailer on the back. Otherwise it never moves from the top of the cold mark. Put my heater on number 4 and it blows a draft rather than warm air.

Had the same in my 2.8 in the Trooper. Did the same as Hound Dog and fitted the 85 degree stat from a 3.1. You want the QTH411K stat. Mine now sits at the 1/4 - 1/3 mark and both heater matrixes are toasty warm.

One thing I did do though is properly flush the coolant out using the intended drain plug at the bottom of the engine in front of the starter motor. If you don't you still have a block thats half full of water/sludge which doesn't help matters.
