WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Picked up one of these from Maplin today, gonna fit it into the ashtray slot over the weekend. Not sure where the antenna's going to end up though.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!So it were a bit of a score then...
And I was thinking of trying to get hold of a working VRC 321 and fetteling that into the car somewhere... Not sure if it would have worked as a CB, but the output at 30 watts would have been impressive.... This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Well, the units in, just need to do the wiring bit and clean up on friday. Fits quite well in the 'ashtray' slot and plenty of space behind for the wiring stuff as well
![]() Antenna thing is going on the roof via one of the two 'covers' located above and forward of the rear side windows once I've made something up to take the mount on. ![]() I may be stating the obvious but have you got an extension speaker ? only I tried mounting my CB where you have put your's it looks a neat job but I could not hear a bl**dy thing when the car was moving due to the built in speaker being underneath the unit and with the engine running even on full volume could not hear a thing anyone was saying also it was a nightmare to swr the unit unless you leave the meter plugged in all the time as it's a fiddly job connecting and unconnecting the antenna socket. Just a thought !! I would prefer a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Found out the "P" reg LWB I have just brought has a fuel leak, must be a common problem on Fronties as my shorty also had the same.
It may be a silly question but how do I find out if it's an "A" or "B" series ? I would prefer a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Was wondering about the speaker myself. Consideration was to use one of those combined speaker/mike things but will probably end up going down the line of a seperate speaker. I've got a few kicking around the shed.
Antenna? going to run the cable up through the car and terminate it in a socket where one of the blank plates is located above the o/s rear window as a temp measure then fit a new plug onto whats left of the mag mount cable so I can plant that in the middle of the roof for now. The perm installation will see a junction box replacing the blank plate with the co-ax terminating in a socket there along with a water proof switched 12v outlet for some roof lights. Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!came very close to scrapping it, just after taking a match to it........
why does a "simple" job turn into a major disaster?...... rotten fuel pipes over rear axle removed..simple job, got covered in fuel..doh number 1 then it's time to do the rusty rear brake pipes..simples, it's just the two along the rear axle..just 4 unions nope.. both caliper ends come off fine, but the two at the flexi part wouldn't move..snapped my brake spanner (the one with the slot)..result rounded unions..bent the mole grips. so flexi pipe off but neither of the unions to the load valve would move, result pipe bent and split..now i'm covered in brake fluid as well..at least the flexi pipe is off..luck would have it that i have a spare (no idea where it came from) so i've got a stuck union in the load valve, that it nearly rounded. a bent pair of mole grips, a snapped brake spanner and need 3 lenghts of brake line and 6 unions, instead of two pipes and 4 unions. as well as turning myself into a fire hazard.. oh forgot, noticed that the diff plate is leaking.. getting close to that point now.. The greatest lesson in life is to know that even us idiots are right sometimes

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Last night, I changed the wheels back to my ats and while I had the wheels off I jet washed the rest of the mud off from Sunday
Think I need to take the bash plates off next to see what muds left under them Also had a look on how to fix my side step as the top cover fell off! Hopefully once I drilled the remains of the metal pins out it can just be self tapper screwed in and the plastic plate screwed back on If it ain't broke, fix it before it does!! You know it will!!
