What planet are you working on Fudge????

the surface of the sun????

Only I thought you were working on Robs car at Neals gaff in near zero temps, in East anglia...

so more appropriate PPE might be...

Thermal everything...
6 fingered welding gloves...
Alan Partridge repellent gel...
Condoms, just in case you run into a relative, in a desperate measure to break the cycle of their local tradition...in-breeding...
Details of a good dating agency...as all the local ones only have relative success...

Might be worth taking a hill or two with you if you can, cos theirs all got nicked in the ice age I think.

and dont forget some change for Mr Whippys creamy cornets...rumour has it you might find that it is lurking nearby

Greg you're an :butt: , just because we are all supposed to be inter related in east anglia doesn't mean we use condoms with our relatives. Would be defeating the object, besides you can't get pregnant by coming in through the back door, especially with your brother.

Think I have now just about got warm again after a long but fruitful day. Will leave Rob to tell the story but would just like to say thanks to the two laydees for tea, bacon sarnies and cakes. All in all a good day with some good laughs and another happy Fogger with a road worthy Fronty.

Rob, remember to check the oil as we didn't re-check it after we started it. See ya all soon for a forest run.

Sorry ... I was distracted

What a marathon that was today though. Well here is the original list of issues:

Robfog wrote: :x
Sills both sides - until he peals of the outer sill he can't tell about the inner sill.
Plating required where roll cage meets wheel arch
Brakes discs 4 of
Pads 4 sets
Calipers 2
Brake pipes to rear
exhaust manifold - to cat gasket, maybe the manifold
Steering Box, I did say I had one
Emissions high

Tin Worm :
Rotten bits cut out and between Fudge and Kelly new bits were fabricated and welded into place.

Brakes :
One brake line was surface rust and just needs dressing to clear up. Still solid, so no worries there. Front disks and pads practically brand new, and piston moving freely. Rear brakes were a lot different though. The tester observed a juddering on heavy braking through the pedal. Turned out the fluid was low. This was due to the passenger side caliper. The pad on the inside was jammed solid in the caliper. Also half of the pad came away from the metal when I removed it. This meant only half of that caliper was working. The general state of play with all the rear brake pads was terrible as the rest were really low. Therefore disks and pads were replaced. Reason for low fluid ... it was in the lines making up for the lack of brake pads. Cause for the juddering ... knackerd jammed pad and the fluid levels being low. The pipe Foggy is talikng about is the rear most from the splitter block accross to the passenger rear wheel. As we were putting on the opposite side wheel the truck decieded to move off the jack and the stand give way. Fortunatly the wheel was almost in place and caught it. Unfortunatly the truck spat the jack backwards and caught the brake line snapping it. Fortunatly I had some nice expensive copper/nickel brake line and flaring tools for just this situation and quickly fabricated another to replace it. PLEASE NOTE GUYS: this sort of thing can happen to anyone no matter how experienced. We took every precaution, but still accidents can happen. We were lucky, but mainly due to never having anyone under the car when lifting or simply on just the jack.

Exhaust Manifold :
Bust gasket between the manifold and the exhaust. Replaced and she no longer sounds as if she is blowing raspberrys.

Emissions :
Foggy and Mick gave the old girl a service. New filters, oil and plugs. Hopefully after a good run to clear things out the old emissions levels should be back to where they should be.

Anyways here are the photo's I took:
