omfg what have i bought ... heheh.. just got my first ever 4x4,,,,,2.5d frontera 1996 sport,,,thing..um.. have spent a good 2 hrs reading thru the 2.5d section and seem to have all the problems possible.test drove it in heavy traffic so have only just sussed its actually in limp mode, only just sussed it dribbles oil after it sitting on drive for couple of hours, the temp guage reads cold always, the fuel guage says nearly empty all the time, the oil guage is right off the top of the markings with engine running or just ign on. steering is "floppy" to say the least. oh god.. swear im getting thicker the older i get.. any mechs in tamworth area fancy a few quid gimme a bell..

thanks for the welcome, tis going to be a well used site for me now ive committed. just went out n had a look at her all frosted up n must admit shes a looker so will be fixed best i can. afraid i tend to buy all my vehicals the same way and rarely ever do proper test drives/rides etc, just set my heart n off i go,often coming home with all sorts of sh*te,(2 wheel n 4),but its always intresting sh*te which i always end up enjoying owning. no point owning tools if you cant attack something with them..

well, just stripped out the dash, found the bulk has already been done but the pedal adjustment was right back out so have re adjusted it ,both bolts , to allow a higher pedal and presto, excellent clutch..soo much nicer to drive.. renewed various wiring connections and soldered few joins that were suspect, gawd isnt there a lot of them, some look quite ooold n musty.. took rear seats out to put my tools in and have come to conclusion its just too small for me so have put her up on swapz.
decided im going to get a 5 door instead after seeing the pics in here, the sport is ok but a bit, "little"..
now ive got to read up in here on the bigger fronties.. heheh.

thanks m8ty, still here n reading stuff on the bigger ones, have put mine up on ebay classifieds for now see what offers i get(i know its overpriced but gives me haggling room ). had a 3.2v6 offered but wanted too much on top considering it had a flickering dash etc etc, n it wuz miles away, saying that the little one is strangely growing on me. done allsorts to mine, fuel guage, temp guage sorted, steering adjusted, much better.replaced couple of vaccum type pipes. now oil is down to 3/4 mark on stick it doesnt leak anymore and has stayed there for 150 miles,go figure tail pipe has just fell off tonite heheh thought id sussed out the oil pressure sensor, turns out it wuz a temp one lol, where the fk is the oil sensor hiding?.haynes book of lies show a completely different picture to what i have in my engine bay(apart from the main engine) just wish there was a mech near me who would take it on n sort it out fer cash, just havent enough hours in the day with work etc and my bike needs stuff n comes first. Also after a bedsit/flatlet with/in a garage in tamworth area if anyone knows of owt..

the oil switch is at the back of the the oil filter and the water pump on the drivers side of the block and can be a tad hard to get at

COULD BE,RED,IN TAMWORTH?. YEH TAILGATE CORNER IS MESSY,doh caps,n has couple o light push dents in wings but overall shes quite smart n solid,i dont like the color at all and would introduce her to some army paint if she stays. somehow ive got to trade her across to a 2.8 or v6 lwb i think,i saw both a v6 and a 2.8td at weekend and theyre much more me i reckon..

Take it offroading an you will change our mind the sports are great wee motors plenty of space in the back for two people shame small boot an with the tilt seats not pratical everyday if you need to use rear seat. Once the sun come out an you remove all the glass and roof panel you forget about the people the back the lack of boot space . Then the handling round the bends spot on . I miss my sport Lwb aye comfy big things not as happy on bends but loads of room
