Hi, ive just purchased a 2.3td

Here is the old girl, 12 months MOT, 100k on the clock. ( the boy loves the 'monster truck' lol )



Now im a total new guy when it comes to 4x4's there are a few questions im hoping you might be able to help with

1) the rear bar with the spare on can this be removed ?

2) anyone have a 2.3td and use for towing ? I needed something to tow a car transporter trailer which im sure this will.

3) The dials have a case of the old flicker ( common prob from reading up )

4) When the alarm tries to go off it just flashes the indicators and no sound ?( look factory fit so guessing the horns should sound ? )

5) Is it best to run in 2wd and only use 4H for when needed and 4L for off-road / laning ?

Spare wheel mount can be removed and most do, saves a ton of weight.

Should tow fine, the 2.3 is not a speed truck but a strong plodder, just keep up regular oil changes.

Not dials are not normally an issue on the A series but if its the speedo check the cable into the gearbox, could be loose, or thump the dash

No noise on the alarm, unless it goes off

Thanks guys I hoping picking the 2.3 wasnt a bad move looking at reviews ( compared to the 2.5 or 2.8 ) but i know everyones different, if she pulls me trailer and car ok

Yeah looking forward to the snow also went green laning in bolton ( in a landy ) so might take the fronty sometime

Where im currently parked on the drive ( in my pic ) the car is facing forward, ive read that its best to leave facing down hill if not being used for a while ? Im selling my car so it will be getting insured in about 2 weeks will it be ok or should i turn it around ?

Also noticed a nail in the front tyre and its leaking air but the previous owner never left a locking wheel key grrrrrrrrr good start lol
