I think this has strayed off topic a bit with talk about doing certain lanes (not a bad thing though as it's keeping the topic active and airs peoples wishes for the weekend )
The reality of the weekend is that on a few lanes you might come across fords with a few inches of water. Maybe 6-9" deep on the odd one if your lucky. Your Fronty can safely handle this amount of water. The last few posts have all been about more extreme lanes and deep water and will not be the general order of the day, however if people do want to do them, then I'm sure 1 or 2 of the 4 groups can take these lanes in, so don't worry, you won't need a snorkel, but like Drift states a mod similar to Box's wouldn't hurt if you wanted to have a go at the car wash or any of the lanes that might be wet. (photo of AndySD1 in his old B last October to give some perspective of depth shamefully stolen from Box's photobucket)
Maybe if anyone has any spare tube they could bring it, and we could help you fit it if your not sure or want the security of having moved your air intake to a safer place???????

Paul, if its been raining most of the lanes in that area will be in the state mentioned in the earlier posts, its a very wet bit of Wales Whats been posted is normal, they can get a lot worse, its just best be prepared and not splash quickly through the wet sections as you could get the water where you dont want it also you do not know if there are big rocks, drops or sharp slate under the water. Take things easy and slowly most unmodified trucks will cope very well.
This was not high when we crossed the car wash on this occasion but the guy in the white car simply went into the water too fast and sucked water into his engine (hydro-locked it)
Can you and Andy not share a car as well as the tent? Just a thought. Would be great if you could both make it, and would split the costs too.(Remember Andy's gonna be in the pool all day so you'll only have to put up with him in the evening )

Have to say buddy that the Carwash, even during a reasonably dry spell (well dry for Wales, you know what I mean) is a lot deeper than 9 inches. I'd have said 2 foot in the middle on average. Not that I've ever had a problem with that (famous last words ) Splashy lane after rain is a lot deeper than 9 inches in places as well. Look at my avatar pic >>>> That was deffo more than 9 inches, although that one isn't so much water as a cow crap and pee soup Smells lovely burning off a hot exhaust
Going ot again There was big kick off about that, he was lead across by a commercial company that charged customers £25 a go to lead around free lanes and Ive seen him take 9 cars out He should not have took them across just because his kitted up LR made it the standard Jeep didnt and wrecked it.
He went quiet for a while then came back under a different name

Have to agree Si laned around that area for years and the carwash is never the same level. Been through one month and the water was not even over the wheels then returned a month or two later and it was over the bonnet
Here is a pick of a ford near me The first pick is how it looks most of the time. And the second pic is after a bit of rain You can just make the truck out under the water Water came through air vents and every where Just shows how a lane can change after a bit of rain

Can I point out that at no point have I said that the car wash is 6-9" deep. I refer to my original quote

Damn it didn't think about a snorkel, am I going to run into problems without one?
read to me as a person who was worried about taking his car through water as he felt it was ill equipped. My reply was an effort to assure him that he wouldn't need a snorkel as the vast majority of lanes will not be rivers of water. I am not from North Wales, nor do I know the lanes or how wet they get. I can only quote from what I have been told about them by other members and my limited experience of Welsh lanes from the March weekender. The last few posts now read to me as though we're all going swimming with our cars and we'll all be taking them through deep water and rivers which as far as I am aware we are not. I quote again

My view on lanes & water is probably different to those who live or regularly lane in this area. As the OP is from my part of the country I know what he would expect to find on a lane down here, and I am trying to point out that not all lanes are thick mud like the photo of the pheasant steps, full of water like splashy lane, and the car wash is probably not going to wreck your engine or wash you away and that now everyone attending will want to do these type of lanes either.
Rant over

Splashy lane, Conquering hero and obviously the Carwash all have have water on them over 9 inches, significantly more in fact. I also made it abundantly clear that my unmodded Dti (which is the same car stretch has ) coped with all of them with no issues.
Splashy lane and the Carwash are not extreme. They were both on my first 'Newbie Greenlaning day' organised by Phil. The same guy organising the lanes for this weekend.
Paul was not looking to offend you or upset you mate The way i read your post it seamed that you was saying that water crossings was going to 9 inch max high. As you have now pointed out what you mean all makes sense As for the chat about deep water crossings and pics its just a bit a fun mate
Im well looking forward to this! I just hope nothing brakes on the truck before hand (fan belt has just started squeeling like a pig at anything above idle )
"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOW --- What a Ride!"
Have you changed the tensioner Dan ? My house is only 25 mins from the camp site and you are welcome to use my drive/tools for any repairs required. (as is anyone else for that matter)
Ok my status on this trip I have had a few problems with work( with the current industry)but I have just starded a new job
So Its going to be a last minute decision if I go,as I just need someone to cover my role at work,(I dont mind paying the Deposit though to secure my place )
If I go, which,I think it will be at a 95% chance I will be My truck will not be taking part in the off road laning trip,so I will be just be going for the social event,as I have neglected my truck for the last 4 months and have not done any repairs... well only one
But if I get cover at work and can go, Si (cleverclogs) can borrow my bash plates,we will just swop them on site so he can play and I will just jump in with someone!
