Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Changed all the gearbox, and axle oils, greased prop UJ's and fuel filter changed too. Have to be honest i dont think any had been done since it was new!! Tipped the fuel fliter back on itself and it was full of a fine silt, probably why it struggled to start ocassionally. Rear axle oil was like sludge, front wasn't too bad but with it only working in 4wd i'd expect it to be cleaner, gearbox oil was black as hell too. Took it for a run to McD's and it seems to have a new lease of life and everything seems just that little bit quieter. All in all worth the work involved.
Low mean and moody is how i roll!!!

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Managed to sort the anti roll link bushes today but couldn't get them anywhere so made my own out of 19mm thick industrial rubber matting and bored them out using a hole cutter and must say it works a treat. I intend to do the same for the front shock top mount rubbers seeing as these can't be purchased on there own....Front Wheel bearings adjusted whilst the wheels were off
Perhaps the bush idea i used could be used in the how to section seeing as you can't get them other than through vx dealers and at whopping prices
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!started to rip every thing off my old engine ready for taking i out just the air con pump, starter motor, alternator, power stearing pump and then finish off removing 2 of the ruddy exhaust down bolts left as they refuse to budge and forgot to get the xxxl long arm out the shed. kin 3.2 lumps are bigger than first think he he he

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Another Red MOT
Failed once more. f£$king p1SS1ing s&%ing Mk.I handbrakes. Working fine when I adjusted them. Seems 2 days of sitting idle knocks them out. Nearside is fine. Offside isn't. He says its probably the cable ... he says its "crunchy". At a loss and bleeding annoyed ... got petrol and a match. Need to get to Northampton tonight. No chance of finding a place for a test tomorrow and no time to fix it. ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Swore at it Fudge? That doesn't sound nice, it might get angry with you and will probably bite back at you at a later stage...
The gearbox dropping is a treat of a job. Once you've done it a couple of times it's not that bad. A good air wrench, ramps and a good trolley jack makes all the difference.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!well i dont have a compressor so no air tools.
but will defo get a battrey nut runner soon. but a 1ton hi lif pallet truck i borrowed from work, did really work a treat CARTREK

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Big gold thing .. I assume you have an automatic gearbox ... in that case its your torque converter. Should unbolt.
As for me I stripped the brakes again for the third time this month. Mainly concentrated on the cable runs. Pulled both rear most cables off and found they were sticky. Filled the sleeves with WD40 and then gave them the biggun to get them moving freely again. Then filled them with some spray grease. Its nice and thin so shouldn't gunk up. Put everything back on again awaiting the new caliper that should be arriving tomorrow for adjusting and fitting. Once its on I have to yet again adjust everything to suit the new parts and then in for another (third time in a week) MOT.
