Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Its not a 2.8 ... I think Fogman wants simplicity and ease. The 2.8 fits the bill nicely. Also he is relying on me to keep it running and I know more about the 2.8 than the 2.5

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Hi
Front hub bearing kits turned up yesterday, fitted the O/S/F fronts last night. Kits were from Milners. I didn't measure anything up on disassembly but when putting it all back together the circlip for the auto hub assembly was a pig to get back in. Almost as though the new bearings were deeper therefore the nut and lock washer didn't go on as far thus the auto locker not going on as far, we are only talking fractions of a millimeter and before you ask, yes the bearing races were driven right home before fitting the hub. Any body else experienced this? Regards Stuart Remember, keep the greasy side down!

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!today
i have gotten another door from the scrappy, (as it is cheaper, and less hassle, than fixing all the internals in mine) and when i got i home and standing next to where it is going, i found the wiring loom of the door was different to mine. so i removed the wiring loom out of the old door, and put it in ot the new on, fitted it all up, and it is all good now CARTREK

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Hmmm, and I was going to order a couple of sets of Milner wheelbearings, given that they're significantly cheaper than any of the parts places round here.
Anybody else encountered this little gremlin then?? Stuart, did you eventually get your hubs reassembled? Jim...

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!OK flushed out rusty coloured coolant and refilled with clean blue stuff, cleaned icv and vacuum pipes + inlet manifold with carb cleaner, became pleasantly suprised when I noticed nice shiny new thermostat housing + Alternator. Also noticed plugs leads and air filter not that old so looks as if someone had been looking after the car before me lol.
(I got it sat off ebay for £300 so wasnt expecting much, the bloke selling was a motor trader that had taken it as part ex so no history) Then set about t-cutting all the panels to remove some of the scratches and remains of gb sticker residue. then off to hand car wash to give it a clean then took some pics while it stll looks nice lol. Now to relax pray that some errant bird dont do its business on it too soon and hope it still works in the morning

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Yeah I had the same problem when I changed my bearings, again ordered from milners. I changed one of the 2 races on the N/S and just managed to get the clip on, but without the shim, on the O/S I changed both races and I couldnt get the clip on, and to this day I still havnt, but it hasnt given me any problems and Ive been offroading many times

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Hi All
The hub bearing saga on my 2.8 Sport continues: Changed the N/S/F bearings tonight (did the O/S/F last night, see earlier post). But this time I measured everything as it was disassembled. Checked that there was endfloat on the Auto hub lump and that the shim was free to move. Before taking the lock washer off I measured from the lock washer to the end of the stub tube - 2.8mm, knocked the bearings out;wiped them down and measure their height against the new ones. The combined difference showed the new bearings to be 0.3mm thicker. Fitted the new bearings (making sure they were fully driven home, incidently the bores the bearings fit into are not radiused at the bearing stop and the bearings have a radiused edge so they will fit against the stop), then fitted the hub to the stub, adjusted up the bearings and fitted the locking washer then remeasured the depth 1.9mm. Dropped the locker assembly on,this time fitting the circlip was impossible with the shim in place. I removed the shim and fitted the circlip and it was still an extremely snug fit, I had to tease it into the groove. Now the auto locker assembly doesn't float about, I road tested it up the road and along a verge, bearings are Ok and the lockers engage with 4H and 4L and they unlock when you back-up in 2H. Would be greatful for opinions as to whether the auto locker need to float about and what is the likely out come of running without the shim and no endfloat to speak of. The Haynes manual says "don't forget to fit the shim" It also advises that to replace a missing shim you need to take the vehicle to Vx steeler so they can use special tools to measure "it" to calculate what thickness is required. Any body know the equation/formulea or how much endfloat/freeplay there should be? Regards Stuart Remember, keep the greasy side down!
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Yesterday afternoon i had to go home and change Chrissy's water pump. This should of been a straight forward job. BUT being a Frontera one bloody bolt had to give me trouble. In the end i was tired and started to loose it. Those of you that know me will know that the air would of been Blue!!
Moral of the story is:- Dont bring your fronty to me to change the water pump co's i dont do them!!!!! Comments on Betsy here please!!! viewtopic.php?f=115&t=56282

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Fitted new wiper blades, took her out down the local muddy lane to check out how well they worked and on returning home found a fuel leak, great just as she was running so well
I would prefer a full bottle in front of me than a full frontal lobotomy.
