Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Replaced the spark plugs hoping to clear up the erratic idle and guess what?............. It didn't!!
i'm starting to worry that its worse than i feared, i've bought a replacement intake manifold gasket hoping that the existing one has broken down and is sucking a small amount of extra air in, when i put my foot down i get a wiff of fuel so thats my way of thinking failing that could be either head gasket or valves need re-seating if its the head gasket it could be the same problem my old cavalier had in that the head gasket blew between the cylinder bores so dropping the compression but not mixing the oil and water

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Not today but last night ... replaced the rear nearside brake caliper. Should of been easy, but turned into a nightmare. Stupid stupid Isuzu ... why would you make two brake calipers exactly the same where the only difference is 20mm on the slider. Then spread rumours that the 1990 LWB Lotus Edition has 75mm sliders and then fit 55mm sliders to actual thing. After finding out the new one was 20mm too long I had to cut the old caliper apart to get the seized slider out and compare the two. To make things even more annoying, to get the 55mm slider all they did was literally chop 20mm off the end of the longer one
Then I had to bleed the effin things, then I wasted an hour of my life adjusting the stupidly overly complicated handbrake system only to slacken everything off and give up. Leaving it in gear now when parked. Must sort it though ... Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Today I have changed the thermostat housing gasket. Hopefully it will stop losing water now.
It seems a little smokey but I am hoping that it is a bit of gasket seal burning off or something. Meh, time will tell I guess! No More Nails, Duct Tape and a big hammer. Who needs a tool kit?!
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Well had a proper day today sun shining get the beers out and cracked on with the jobs
1st order of business spark plugs old ones ![]() New ones ![]() What a difference must have done at least 3 or more years with these in ![]() then came the brake pads i checked them yesterday when i had my new tyre (supplied by Gazeddy) they have done some serious mileage judging by whats left compared to the new ones ![]() and then replaced the intake manifold gasket which didn't look too bad but no change in the irratic idle so guess what i did next?? i removed the EGR valve gasket was shot made a few phone calls and found that they are a dealer only part my mate Sven on parts couldn't believe the price, he said its the most expensive gasket for its size he's ever known........ £10 inc VAT Here's the old gasket, new one arrives from Ellesmere Port tomorrow morning ![]() ![]()
