Discovered I may have the early signs of the headgasket going.

Having a sniff test done tomorrow, if it is then its got to go.

I cant afford to keep paying out for the maintenace. First fuel pump, then rear disc and pads with both calipers and now this.

No worries, Dont get rid of the fronty mate, its not a hard job and you'll only have a 2 day wait for the head in between a couple of hours to strip it down and put it back together

Traced the annoying rattle to the offside bonnet hinge rivet. Its going to be a nuisance to cure that one. Fillede up with "go juice" and with all the mixed town/country/towing and 4wdlo mountain climbing has achieve over 24mpg. Well pleased.

well to day i fix the leaking erg valve but really want to blank it off also degayed the car took off 4 running lights 2 spots some stick on audi crap look leds moved the reverse spot to the fiber glass cover on rear bood glass took off oll rust side steps ....... on a side note i did see a tech help thread on here on how to cut the boot inspection panal out and fit it tidy can an 1 help

Bigun, If your talking about chopping a hole out the boot to be able to get at the fuel tank stuff then the first thing to do is make a trip to a scrappies to chop the boot floor out of an old 'A' series LWB, you then use this as your in fill panel as the moulding will be correct to fit the moulding of your boot floor. The bit you cut out on your car won't fit, it will just drop through the hole, it needs to overlap the hole by a good 20mm all round so you have enough room for the screws and instant gasket to make a seal.

Cutting it's the easy bit, just don't cut to deep otherwise you will cut lumps out of the fuel tank and hoses. You can see the top of the tank if you look underneath the rear wheel arches, it's not too difficult to slide a piece of ply in there to protect stuff while cutting.
This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

Drinks

For me, the tank had something like 70ltrs of Dieso in it and I just couldnt be bothered with either getting it all out so I could drop it or struggling with a full tank if I did drop it. As it is I can now access it very easily with out dropping the thing. IMHO vaux should have cut the hole when they were made. Would be soooo much easier.

Gotta say, the first time my trucks get a tank problem, they are gonna get an inspection flap...

Bushwacker did one in his sport, I think he used a paint tin lid as a cover....such a cowboy! I would use a filler tin lid, got loads more of those after rebuilding the 90!

Hinged would be nice, kinda quicker access :lol: :lol: :lol:

Cant remember but doesnt a sport sender unit location get it kinda in the way of the rear seat securing point... :?

Hopefully admin won't curse too much at this thread straying somewhat but a little advice for anyone cutting the floor of their motor - if using a hole cutter (or a drill in many places) measure the depth you are safe to drill/cut to before doing damage, then apply a band of self adhesive insulation tape around the cutting implement be it the cutter or drill at that depth, then when you drill down dont go into the area of your cutter/drill that is taped - in short - a form of depth guage.

Umm, on thread, checked tread depths today (not using a drill!) - might need new tyres later in the year, wonder what to go for?????

reattached side steps after sand blast and galvanized, fixed dash problem too and today i am doing the rear diff greese and clean try fit in front wheel bearing
