Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Finally managed to get my O/S manual hub fitted today.
On a side note though, The O/S auto hub used to click quite badly whilst up the woods and today I discovered why. Every single retaining bolt was loose and I dont mean abit loose, I mean I didnt need any tools to get the thing off. So if you have a clicking auto hub just check all the bolts are nice and tight... Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!I had a LOOOONNNGGG journey up to Robbie's today. Beasty was in Limp Mode, and as my code reader doesn't work on Fronteras, I made the 40ish mile drive up there. That was an experience. 50mph flat out. Grrr. Anyhoo...Thanx Robster. All fixed again.

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Youngest daughters Birthday today and she decided she wanted to go laning. Nothing too extreme as we were on our own, so did a couple around Llangollen and the carwash afterwards.
The screams coming from her mates in the back seat were hilarious
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Love Llangollen. Beautiful part of the world. Was down there a couple of years ago for the big music festival, when the choir I was in were entered into the competition. Did ya get any pics then Si?

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Fitted me nice blue trooper springs wound up the torsion bars bought a nice long antena, the springs didnt quite give a2" lift I had hoped for but it seems to drive a lot better, the whole job went a lot easier than I had expected even managed to loosen the shocker nuts ready for next week when i should have me new dampers from Difflock
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Took the Engine Protection Plate thingy off (thanks go to Mr Angle Grinder for dealing with the nuts) then drilled out the bits and repaired the threads in the holes.
Having completly destroyed a turbo end of Jan and recently siezed the replacement one up (to be fair, it was a s/h unit and had a wee whine, but that said and done it shouldnt have siezed up having only done 80k ish and oil changes are now VERY focused re time/mileage) I began the 'why did it bust' investigation by dropping the Oil and taking the lower sump pan off to have a look at the oil pump and return pipe from the turbo, for some odd reason the Oil Pressure seems to fluctuate a bit and is a bit higher than normal, before another turbo goes on I need to investigate the oil and coolant systems to eliminate any possible problems. The pump looks to be in order, although I'm not impressed with the design of the lower sump pan (the design means that you do NOT get all the oil out when draining the car, rather some is left behind along with the resultant crap sat in the bottom of the sump, see photo below and note the position of the sump plug) ![]() Oil pump looks okay, although I've not taken it apart. Was hoping to get the Turbo off as well, but it seemed that shopping had a higher priority earlier in the day so that resulted in starting late and loosing light so everything was buttoned back up ready for the morning, I'm off work for the last two weeks of March so I will be looking at the rest of it then. This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!My drainer is slightly different to yours, it does not have a collar
Parking half on the kerb when draining the oil should work on mine, though saying that the filter should be picking up and rubbish? Ste

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Had a wee fuel leak as well, investigated and found the seal on the top of the tank for the tank sender unit was letting by a bit, so undid everything and gave it a bit of a clean up.
![]() Luckily mine has a hole already cut in the boot floor to allow easy access to the fuel tank sender unit and associated connections (see pic below for approximate position) although if I was going to cut it again I thnk I would try and make it a bit bigger so i could reach the breathers and possibly the inlet pipe as well. If I do adapt it I will be posting full details in it's own thread. ![]() Took the fuel level sender unit out for a looksee while I was in there, glad I did as I found what looked like congealed fat in there (images below), and no, however tempting it is, I don't use chip fat in it! ![]() ![]() This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not...
