Hi Everyone, I Bought a 2001 Frontera B 5dr 2.2DTI last week. Its Midnight Black with blacked out windows looks the buisness.
Its a new experience for me as i've never owned a 4x4 before and is taking a bit of getting used to, in a good way though. I have had to adjust my driving style and i am taking my time learning the limitations of the car on the road first, then hopefully give off-road a blast to see what thats like. I have been driving an Alfa Romeo 156 2.4jtd with 175bhp for a while and most recently my courtesy car (as some dim-wit rear ended the Alfa on black ice) which was a mercedes cls that had 280bhp so while it feels slow and i know its not meant to be a sports car i have been pleasantly surprised by how it is deceptivley quick. I feel like i am doing 20mph less than i actually am, im guessing its the high up driving position or just that the engine doesnt sound like its being worked hard at 60mph.
This brings me to why i bought this Frontera, having owned sports cars in the past and various saloons and estates as well as 2 different people carriers when the kids were very small, i got to thinking about the practicalities i need for every day driving and what i use the car for. Firstly whilst i totally loved the Alfa it was cramped inside, boot was small and back seat too small for 2 booster seats and a teenager to sit comfortably, suspension was harsh and it was expensive to run, the merc taught me that very quick cars are totally pointless on the roads over here, too many cars, roadworks, traffic jams and potholes to enjoy at all. In the people carriers i just felt so old and anonymous even though they were very practical, affordable and drivable. I have also been stranded numerous times in the snow in the last 2 years, as well as having to tip-toe through floods on an all to regular basis..........
So the Frontera then,
Good for bad road surfaces, potholes, floods, snow and quick enough to keep up with the average car. Check.
Reasonably priced to buy, run, tax and insure. Check.
Different from the average boring car yet roomy, practical big enough for kids booster seats, dogs and bikes. Check
Im sorry for boring you all but im just very happy with my Frontera so far, long may it continue.
I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

Welcome millenaire :D

Post some pics of the truck in the members ride section. It sounds like a nice bit of kit you have there.

Hi and welcome.
If you are not used to 4x4s then remember that the frontera must be on slippy ground when in 4WD as it has no centre Diff.
Some of them have a limited slip diff on the back which is fun in snow, if you want it to be.
Have fun.
If you need something done quickly just ask a busy woman then get the f"k out of her way.
