Posting Pictures Using Photobucket

First off get yourself a photobucket account. If you already have one then skip to section 2.

Section 1 : Creating and using Photobucket.

Go to http://photobucket.com/
It should look like this:



Now hit the “Join Now” button and follow the instructions to create an account. Once that is done you should have something like this:



To upload images all you have to do is hit the green "Upload Now" button. This will change screen to a new one with a huge green "select photo's and videos" button. Hit that green button and a new window opens that will allow you to navigate through your computer so you can select the picture you want to later display on the forum. Like this:



If you go to the folder you want to upload from and hold down the “Ctrl” button on your keyboard and select all the individual pictures you want then hit the “Open” button on the window it will just upload those images. You can see I have selected three images above.

Once that has uploaded all the images you should see something like this:



If you want you can add some info in the boxes but to be honest it’s not necessary and I never bother. Just hit “Save and Continue to my Album” when you’re done. The screen should reload and change to something like this. You will see a thumbnail of the most recent pictures you have uploaded in the middle:



That’s how to upload to photobucket … well done!

Section 2 : Posting to the forum.

Now you have some loverly pics of your beloved motor that you want to share with the world. This is the fiddly but easy bit. Write down the blurb that you want to accompany your picture. Then hit return. Go to the window that has your thumbnails on in photobucket and hover the mouse over the image you want. A little window should appear under it like so:



You can see four titles. The one that says IMG code is the one we are interested in. Single click the yellow window and the URL adress thingy should disappear and flash up "copied". Then go to your post on the forum and hit "Ctrl" and "v" and the code should appear in your post. Should look like this:



Hit send message and there you go your message with picture will appear.

as a note, limit pics to about 600 wide so they dont fillup a whole screen

I believe photobucket automatically does that. Those pictures were originally 1600x1200, but got reduced when uploaded. Though you might have to double check the settings in photobucket to be sure.

Please note that the maximum permitted size for photos displayed in your posts is 640x480 pixels

Please keep you picture to this size or below.

We have been lenient of late but far to many pictures are being posted that are over sized and not getting fixed when asked.
Make sure of the size before you post them or set Photobucket to automatically upload your pictures for you you at 640x480.

The oversized pictures are causing threads to be unreadable as members have to scroll across the screen to read the posts if an over sized picture is posted on that thread page.

Any over sized pictures will be in danger of being removed.

Sorry guys,I think I'm being thick,do I have to load each pic individually ,It wont seem to let me move the album to fog site,what addres do I use ?

After you hit the green "Select photos and video" button a window should appear. Navigate to the folder of the images you want to upload and select them either one at a time or hold down the control button and single right click on each one if more than one. When you hit "open" on that window the pictures will upload.

To show the pictures in the forum hover your mouse over the picture you want and a selection of options appear (as per the second to last image in the guide). Sinlge click the yellow box next to "IMG code" the text should change to "copied". Return to the FOG forum post and hit "Ctrl" and "v" and the code should appear in your post reading "[img]blah%20blah%20blah[/img]".

sorry i still cant make it work must be doing something wrong i,ll get my son to have a go when he comes over ,i,m beyond help.
where would it end up on the forum ?

In which ever post you are writing to. Wait for your son to come over and get im to read the thread ... or print it off so he can read it as he does it
