Ok folks, we will be meeting on top of the Longmynd (by Church Stretton).

Follow the portway (road) to the turn off for the glider club and there is a huge lay by where we can meet. Postcode for the glider club is SY6 6TA

Need to agree a start/meet time with G and will post soon.

There we will split the groups and head off on the same route from different start points.

Distance over the day wiill be no more than about 20 miles, when in low box mpg isnt as good, but unless there is an issue with the car fuel usage on the day wont be huge. I always like to start a day with a full tank, but with a 2.8 thats a good range

Any questions let me know.

This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

Vehicle update. I haven't started on the fronty yet (head gasket) and the troop's up for sale so I don't want to risk an accident. That leaves me with a 2.7d swb maverick. Is that suitable/ok?

Sorry, dont know the ride hight of a maverick, but a standard frontera with road tyres can get around without many, or any issues.
Trucks with CB radio's will be at the front and rear, so help will quickly be at hand for anyone encountering a problem.

The ground clearance is only 2mm less, but I'm feeling that I haven't had it long (couple of hundred miles) and due to the weather haven't had much chance to check it over - it drives ok on the road but it may be more responsible not to take it where bits might drop off or fail until I've crawled underneath it. Forgive me for pulling out at this late stage and please let me know of any future beginners days. Taking a ford on a foggers do though :?: :?: :?:

Bring it on, we arent doing anything critical on ground clearance. Did all these lanes twice in my SWB when it had no 4x4 and only needed one tug.

Will pm my number as we dont post open forum.

CB adds to the day, can natter while we drive and give bits of advice too.

Thanks. I don't have CB and maybe will think about that for the future. The whole weekend now has gone boobs backward. It was to be a surprise long B&B weekend for herself's birthday but have discovered tonight that the bosses are away for the weekend which means we have to stay local. We can maybe still do the day out depending on start/finish time, so we'll leave it open if we can.
