Re: A WARNING TO EVERYONE...please read, learn and implementIf you do get metalin or onyour eye, don't use Optrex as it has added oxygen and makes it rust ans stick. Use distilled stuff like for batteries and steam irons.
Last time I got metal in my eye it was when I was taking my safety specs off! If you need something done quickly just ask a busy woman then get the f"k out of her way.

Re: A WARNING TO EVERYONE...please read, learn and implementI used to weld without a mask until I got a flash in my eye and now I wear a welding mask now and I used to operate grinders without safety glasses but not now after having got a small piece of metal in my eye but luckly the hospital got it out and I know how Dave feels in away.

This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been
Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... Re: A WARNING TO EVERYONE...please read, learn and implementHope every thing goes ok Dave, Did similar some 20 years back, drilling on my back to install a radio under the dash, Lucky got away with it, just loads of visits to the eye clinic as they rusted over a two week period, no blame there mate, we are all guilty at some time.

they took loads of photos to use as training for there staff so this sort of thing isn't missed again, they have said it's there fault in a round about way, i'm just waiting on the date for op now but they still cant say which way the op will go but it will be along process and recovery if it goes well or loss of sight at the other end thanks again for everyones comments
