Sorry all but I am not going to have the fronty ready for the 30th so rather than leaving it until the last minute and then backing out I thought it would be better to give up my place now so someone else can use it

There are a few beauties very near by, but will need to asses the depth and the ability of the groups. May be able to wash a few of the adventurous types off with a quick crossing.

Basic 2.8TD, side steps removed, no lift and running on 265/70/R15 Bridgestone HT689 Duelers. Still looking for a snorkel kit that I can fettle to fit. Got a gas stove and kettle though!

Can anyone tell me the best place to fit Shackles or Jate Rings on both the front and rear of a LWB Series A. I don't really want the bumpers or bars getting dragged down the track!

This posting may have been helpfull, on the other hand probably not... Either way, I may have had drink when posting it in which case it's probably not as helpfull as it could have been

Work safe, and remember all technical problems can be resolved with a hammer, the trick is knowing where to hit it and how big a hammer to use (I often find it may also help to have a spare bit in the shed to replace the bit you have just mullered ;) )

Work in Progress (or not as the case may be) I give you.... 'O-no' the truck.

You will be fine in the two fords as long as they are at there normal level  However if we have a bit of rain before then they my be a little high for standard trucks
Dont worry about it though as the leaders of the groups will try it out first to asses the depth anyway as we would not want you to damage your truck

Shackle wise, what sort of rating do people normally use?

With a max gross weight (from the idiots guide) of 2510kg I guess I would be looking at either 4.5 or 6 tonne shackles? And a strop rated below the shackle?

You should take the thinking of "IT WONT FAIL" not "IF IT FAILS" so go for 4.5 shackles and 5k strop or as equally matched as poss but more than enough for the truck when mud bound

I wouldnt worry too much about recovery points for this one. Its not an advanced outing and we should be able to recover from the rear if we really need to for most trucks as the lanes have lots of access. You can have a talk on the day and get some pointers on how others have done things.

Mate you have a 5" lift    what's it like looking down on the rest of us?

Well as everyones about caught me up its often the same, nice to run out in a standard truck once in a while
