Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Took advantage today, of an early finish and some welcome sunshine...
Ran Holly through the jetwash to wash the mud, etc, off, and especially to clean several years worth of accumulated grime off the roof, now the rack is off. Wouldn't you know it, it's blue under there, too Anyway, then proceeded to evict all my junk from the car, and go round with the hoover, and noticed I still have damp carpets on the N/S. Roof lining was dry, however, so I don't know if is this down to my intensive efforts on the roof, or if it's just that the car still hasn't dried out fully from the rain, etc, we've had of late. Either way, I'll be monitoring things, and hopefully it'll clear up, but I still think my next job will be to strip the interior out and check the roof out properly from the inside. Oh, and sort the cabling runs for rooflights, etc Anybody else got any thoughts?? Jim Jim...

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!I was totally surprised to read about the roof issue - I knew there was rust on there when I owned it, but never thought it had gone far enough to have gone pourous.
In the past (over a year or two ago mind you) the sunroof drainage channels had blocked and a heavy rain fall would cause the sunroof recess to fill up and drip into the cabin - that was sorted by periodically running a curtain wire on a cordless drill through the drainage channels (they exit behind the wheel arch liner to the rear of each front wheel well - where the crud accumulates). There was also the issue of the cracked floor at the front chassis mount points (both sides) in the foot wells - when the cracked bulkhead was welded up, these also got welded up. The only other water ingress points I experienced with the BBB was the passenger side bulkhead gromet and the gear lever gromet (below the gaiter). Otherwise, I have no idea. Good luck with the investigations and cure. Lawrence

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Well, it's been a long time, but I have at long last taken the Sport out for a quick drive around - up to Halfords, petrol station and back.
Changed a blown indicator bulb... er, that's about it. Did more to the Volvo; replaced both rear indicator bulbs (the orange had badly peeled off the existing ones) and replaced a blown fog light bulb. Oh, and squirted the auxillary belt idler with silicon spray - that fixed the squeek (thank goodness it wasn't the water pump). Lawrence
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Attempted to do the lower ball joints. Couldn't even get the castle nuts off. Failed
And now I'm knackered cos I need the truck next Sunday which means I have to try and find somewhere that can do the ball joints and MOT it next Saturday morning Don't grow up, just get bigger toys

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Noticed a slight exhaust blow on the rear to middle section join. Bought a new gasket. Predictably I had to grind off the bolts as they were totally seized
Problem is the bolts are captive so have to be ground down and then drilled out Also decided to change the n/s sidelight bulb which is a pain as the airbox obstructs access, so decided to whip off the air assembly. So glad I did! I guess I went even deeper than I realised last week as the bottom of the airbox was full of dried mud Need to finish the re drilling of the flange tomorrow and refit the exhaust. Happy days
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!started my CV boot replacement, well like i say i stated, striped it down to the axle, its hanging out, then i got distracted by food, will finish it tomorrow

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Uncovered the Yella Fronterror and attempted to remove the powersteering hoses, only to find I needed a 16mm spanner and didnt have one at home!
Was about to start getting the 2.4i ready for sale, but the sun came out, so took the dog for a nice walk down the beach instead, and sat laughing watching 3 guys trying to launch their jetski thingies into the surf! Worked out a plan of action for some cunning mods on the 2.8lwb, to be implemented as soon as I get Sallys glitterball fixed so its no longer a daily driver for her! Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!not today but through the week i fitted my new disco 2" springs,
discovered leaky fuel pipes behind a silly welded on plate just infront of rear axle so cut out about a foot and replaced with hose, but when unclipping the fuel pipe the brake pipe next to it fell apart so half way through replacin both front to rear brake pipes!
