WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!ok today got the sidelight bulb out of the headlight where it fell when i tried putting it in, and repaired the dogdgy vauxhall wiring to the front drivers indicator
2.3 td lwb died in spectacular style when all liquids in engine bay ended up in the sump....
2.8 tdi lwb sold her and still regret it as she was one hell of a truck just brought 2.5 tds lwb
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!After taking the car for a mot spent the rest of the afternoon changing the n/s inner and outer cv boots and changing the stop tail bulb also removed the under sheild and repainted it. will put that back on tomorrow after the mot is done.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Changed the starter motor on the 2.5, wasn't looking forward to it after reading a few horror stories, don't know what all the fuss was about although it did take me 2 hours
Dropped the front prop and exhaust downpipe, managed to get the bolts out with a selection of wobble extensions and knuckle joint and dropped it out, ran a tap down the threads in the bell housing as they were not pretty and bolted the new one in Took off the rusty old steps and chucked them Central locking next, fuse had blown so swapped it and that one blew when the central locking is activated so needs digging a bit further to find where the short is Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Well, managed to recruit Alch and Bobby to change the Leaf Springs on my truck, that was an effort and a half with poor quality bolts in the kit and having to drill the axle as the bolt/nubbin that is on the top is 16mm not 12mm.
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!FINALLY got my headlights to flast left and right, not together. Been trying to get it done for the past 18 months, eventually went out to get 12v diodes the other week, and it's been dry enough today to fit them

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Decided to take the muddies off the 2.8lwb as they rubbed on articulation (until it get a BL) and they are not needed on it at the mo, so its pointless wearing em out, when a/t's will do the job...
wound the torsion bars back to a sensible level and threw a set of leafer pepper pots on and Camac terra a/t's in 31-10.50-15... Looked a bit normal after the 33's though so rethink time... ![]() Was having a sort out and came accross the 16" deep dish 5spokes I acquired a while back, I had started polishing one of them, which looked nice but was loads of work, which will be much easier when the lathe is sorted for up the workshop... But being fatter with loverly deep dish and 5 spoke design, I figured they might look better for now, and they are shod with road tyres (for now) so will give better mileage until the weather turns and muddies are required again... So the plan was to paint em...silver of black was the question...I thought black but double checked with "the boss" who said black to...so etched up, primed and then a nice couple of coats of black...didnt 2k clear them as they will be polished at some point, and getting the paint off will be easier unlaquered... Before..(on a small looking chevybravafing!) ![]() and after (the paint finish looks ok, the marking on the rims is from the tyre foam I cleaned the tyres up with not paint reaction, and will come off when I wash em!) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I think they look quite rude...will be better with bigger tyres (watch this space!) but I like em...dont know what the wheels where off but they kinda look like the shogun fatty evolution wheels...but deep dish rocks in my book and black makes em look hard!!! Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Took the steering arms off the 2.5 to strip clean and grease them, turns out one was already bent so got binned and fitted my spare.
Gave the 2.5 a good checking over and drew up a to do list Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Actually managed to get several jobs done without the any unforeseen complications for once...
1 refitted rear bumpers having had them off for a while for a serious sand down, repair and repaint. 2 fitted some lwb rear lights as I had access to the wiring with the bumpers off. 3 FINALLY managed to unseize the steering box locknut and tighten up the steering. 4 With the help of info on this forum diagnosed a fault that suddenly appeared with the oil gauge to the wire which had fallen off the sender. Fixed. All in all a good day before I got dragged down sainsburys

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!i ate a load of burgers and hot dogs, and what looked like some doge mince in a pan, was i wrong or what, had about three bowls, cheers Chrissy and bobby, oh yer i checked my front bearing, and Alex (top bloke) gave two turns on my off-side wheel to push the tracking out, bloody great, car drives in a straight line, was like a new car,
then back to the bugers and nice mince, flying solo, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!Yet more jobs on the 2.5
Stripped out handbrake cables and oiled them, while the rear discs were off gave the handbrake stuff the once over and cleaned up the drums. Discovered the panhard rod was bent Soon to be without a Frontera after 10 years of owning one
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!not strictly today but....
last saturday with huge thanks to retro pedro and mapracing, we swapped out my busted front diff fantastic effort made a lot easier by the busted diff gang. they drove to my house to help as i couldnt get there due to having broken my rear uj on the friday (4wd to 0wd in 2 weeks!!!). job was easier as the previous week i replaced top and bottom ball joints, wheel bearings and upright bearings plus gave everything a good douse of penetrating fluid - under 3hrs which i didnt think was too bad... however for the helpers finishing quickly meant time to repair the rear uj!! took longer than the diff and mucho swearing as for today, i finally got my modified (dropped) diff hangers back from work - look very good, the lads even painted them

Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!had a oil leak at the rear bottom of engine i thought it was coming from the rocker cover gasket so jet washed the oil off then renewed the gasket.
run it for 30 mins and still leaking. so now i'am thinking rear crank seal but i have no money to do that i hate having Dyslexia
Re: WHAT YOU DID TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY!The crank oil seal is one of those things you can put up with as long as you keep an eye on the oil level, so get a load of oil and put the job off until you get some money
Thats if the oil is not pouring out of course Ste
