Is the wayfarer open?Hi everyone,
I have heard rumor that the Wayfarer maybe closed with a TRO on placed on it at the moment for repairs, is this still the case? I was going to go up there this weekend with a friend who has just bought a freelander, so I wanted to take him somewhere gentle to begin with, ie the wayfarer. If it is closed where would people recommend for a freelander's first outing? Cheers Steve
Re: Is the wayfarer open?I'm sure this came up a few week back (or maybe I just read an old thread about it a few weeks ago) but I think that there is still a TRO on the wayfarer. sure that someone will be along soon with more inteligence than me.
as for where to a a freelander................No I'm not going to say it.....no....no.....i cant.......oh this is hard (said the nun to the bishop)................. firstly, you've got to convince it to come out of the garage...... then.......promise not to disolve it in the carwash...... sorry couldn't resist it... thinking about it, I think that we did part of the wayfarer on the FOG annual...just the bottom bit i think. I.e. the bit that hasn't got a TRO on it, but there are a few other lanes around that area that maybe suitable for your mates freelander. (I could be compleatly wrong about the lanes we did, I was just following the cars in front) The greatest lesson in life is to know that even us idiots are right sometimes

Re: Is the wayfarer open?Any suggestions on where to go instead....freelander friendly
Re: Is the wayfarer open?
Yeah, the M6, M5, A34, A500, or any other major "A" road, all nice and flat, so the Freaklander many be able to just about cope with it. !!!! ![]() ![]() ![]()
Re: Is the wayfarer open?I know, this is why he wants me to go with him for when he gets stuck, however, there must be something reasonable around.
Do people know the track from Llanarmon Dyffryn Ceriog to Ty'n y pistyll, would a freelnader cope with that, bearing in mind it has no low box. Surely I can get at least one semi-serious answer??? ![]() S
Re: Is the wayfarer open?Hi nice to see another member from connahs quay.Have you got any good routes to take a standard Frontera b?Cheers Adrian

Re: Is the wayfarer open?all jokes asisde, the freelander wasnt designed to go off-road or green laning, merely has 4wd to get it out of a wet field.
Sir Doris is the best best for lanes around that area. Sure he will be along shortly ![]() SIZE DOES MATTER!! MEMBER 1728 1996 2.8 SWB called VIPER Members Ride section for VIPER Comments on VIPER here GET YOUR CARTOON CAR HERE

Re: Is the wayfarer open? Thanks for that, the only name I am struggling with at the mo is the splashy lane, which lane is that??
Any ideas on any lanes around betwys y coed area or snowdon? Cheers Steve
Re: Is the wayfarer open?Splashy lane is up the back of Llanarnon DC the village with The Hand pub in it at the end of the Wayfarer, you can do the wayfarer from the Llandrilo side but you will have to turn around at the summit and come back as the hole is on the other side and thats where the TOR is.
There is a nice lane between Capel Curig to Dolwyddelan starting at Pont Cyfyng falls. Nothing near Snowdon, probably for the best as its bobble hat honey pot, though there are some lanes at the back of Llanberis I believe though not done them or got the info. Ste

Re: Is the wayfarer open?
only one side is, you can still go up from corwen, then come back down the same side flying solo, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Re: Is the wayfarer open?
That is commonly known as 'Whitestones'. It is open and is suitable for a free lander. To be honest most of the lanes in that area are doable in a standard frontera so I cant really see a freelander having any issues apart from ground clearance. I think they sit a little lower then a fronty.
Re: Is the wayfarer open? The very first green lane trip I did was organised by simply4x4 and in our group was a Freelander (incidentally owned and driven by a disabled driver) - the only modification (other than hand controls) was a set of Colway mud terrain tyres. He had no problems doing the Ceriog Trail (what we now know as the "beginners route").
