Hi guys(and gals!) just bought an N reg frontera 2.8 turbo diesel sport between us (Gill and Neil) 183,000 miles on the clock 11months mot and 6 months tax. just for a bit of fun really. we fancy doing a bit of ( gentle) off roading. its got a clutch problem at the moment. It struggles to go into gear when you first start up. then when you do eventully get it into gear the bite is right down on the floor. it seems to get a little better as it warms up. but the gear change is never great. when you do declutch, but keep it in gear then she creeps forward? holding her on the brakes make sher shudder and reverse is always selected with a loud crunch. but as everythings gets warmer then the gear selection does get better and the creeping when declutched stops. but having looked about the forums i`ve got some ideas to play with? maybe we`ll see some of you around once we source some off road tyres and get the clutch problem sorted fully Neil and Gill

Hi mate and welcome to the forum. Kieth has hit it on the head either split bulhead needs bleeding or new clutch. You could also try the ajuster on the pedel if none of the others proove any good.

well i managed to sort the problem out with the clutch. the bulkhead needed welding and i bled the system as well. then i found that the engine moved when i pressed the clutch pedal. it had a new clutch fitted before i bought it. any way, i put back in the 4 casing bolts that were missing and HEY PRESTO gears!!! it should be good now , just need to check the condition of the cam belt then of into the wild blue yonder!
