Took out the centre console.Found that the gearstick was loose.Tightened it up Hoped this would sort my gears out.But it didnt i still can only drive in 4th gear.Looks like gear box out job on saturday.Possibly a new bo :cry: x. :x

Hell yeah... Was it just the pushrods that were damaged then?? As you say, if it had gone *foom* on the M6 it could have been far worse.

Yep,actual damage was bent pushrods caused by the belt snapping at about 1600 revs,fitted new belt c/w idler & tensioner pulley`s,replaced pushrods set tappet gaps & the job`s a good un :dance: :dance:

Yesterday Horses45 came to mine we had a Mini Mini meet. Put new pads on his truck and some front recovery shackels then on to the little hole in the sill !!!! :oh yer: :oh yer: See Piccies:-

Adjusted the hand brake so it holds on 3 clicks rather than moves on 7.
Cleaned the inside and the console seems as I had it apart
Presure washed the underneath ready for the waxoyl tomorrow.

Not criticising, more wondering why.

As they are just there and you still have to undo them to fix the towing stop, and if just left open to the elements then could well corode and be difficult to use.

Keep mine in the boot untill going off road then fix them with strop if I think it may get sticky.

Trev, Ive had mine fitted under there for a couple of years, the shackles dont easily corrode unless damaged.

I keep a shackle fitted to both ends of my ropes and strops to link in with the fitted ones, not good for compatitions but more than enough and safe enough for what I use the car for, green laning and the like. :wink:
