Re: MK NEWBIEthank you all for the warm welcome, sorry my last post was done in a hurry as i was in an internet cafe waiting to go see the bounty hunter at the cinema (good film bye the way) .
i thought i might tell you (bore) you all with the tale of how i ended up with my frontera (simba). now i live in milton keynes but work in london so even though i pay an arm and a leg to the rail company each year i also need a car for things like christmas day when for some reason the drivers and conductors want to spend time with there familys, now as i don't get paid that much i have been at the mercy of the kindness of my family who got me a car, now i like 4x4s but they don't so i ended up with a volvo 440 , not a bad car , kept me on the road for 2 years but it was no good in the last big snow and when it died i put my foot down and said im only interested in a 4x4. 2 months without a car and constantly being outbid on ebay mostly for the old suzuki jeeps (cheep to run and insure) i was at work one night depressed at looseing another one and saw this frontera, well battered but cheep and most importantly was its number plate, i put a bid in thinking it would go for more and to my surprise i won £366. it was a bit of a treck collecting it, worked all night saturday , caught a train all the way to somewere just north of wales and got met at the station , handed over the cash and she was mine, tank was empty but there was a tesco right next door so i thought i would fill her up , i didnot realise how big her tank was, i stopped at £50 which only three quarter fills her. drove the 140 miles home no problem, learning some of her little quirks and the bits wrong that the seller had missed on his description. a short list would include, broken windscreen, tailgate dented, rear bumper dented, passenger door lock missing, passenger side running board missing, stearing loose, drivers door mirror not working, interiour trim held on by tape, temp gauge battrie gauge and oil pressure guage not working. there is more but when i get in and turn the key she starts up first time everytime. now i mentioned the number plate, here is the bit that gets spooky, my last 4x4 was an old 72 landrover K reg , thats one and secondly my dad has a very nice big volvo car leather aircon the works and spent £250 with the dvla getting a private plate , my simba's plate has identical lettering just different numbers , it has to be fate that i own her. it will take time but i intend to do her up , once i get it sussed i will put some pics on here . oh yeah last thing if one of you reading this happens to be the owner of the L reg frontera sport liveing just down the street from me don't worry i quickly put the idea of swaping our tailgates in the middle of the night out of my mind
