Antroid/Google phone thingy for mapping byways

One of the techie lads at work showed me his new Christmas present Antroid/Google phone thingy.
Went on to ask him if he could download O.S. maps onto it, track via the GPS and map the routes.
He linked via the works wireless router gizzmo and straight onto the O.S. maps and downloaded. Reckons it could track movements via the GPS and store recorded journeys.
I'm thinking this could be the way to go for recording byways/green lanes for revisits at later dates.

I just use a standard TomTom with an extra application installed, then mark the points as favoutie destinations.

ya i just use the tom tom to but my work nokia as ovi maps too
