How long is 5 minuets???
My brother has a similar problem. His internet hub and flatscreen tv are plugged into the same double switch. If the tv is on, then he switches on the other switch, the tv goes off for about 5 seconds.
Regards, Keith.

Sounds almost like some kind of power surge. What happens if you switch it on with the PC off?

That would suggest the monitor itself is OK. Do you have a connector for an external monitor on the laptop? If you do you could try it with that to see what happens.

I would say more likely it's the cable, which is probably hard wired so can't be replaced :?
