Thought i had better pop over and say hi to everyone,for those that dont me i'm on vq9.co.uk so here i am and off for a nosey,oh and btw i'm looking to buy a fronty so need advice on what model to go for,engine wise,i like the sport and heard the 2.0 petrol has fairly good acceleration but i think the lwb will suit my needs better,i dont want a juicy slug so what engine would you all recomend?

SWB 2.0 is a bit underpowered really.

Best bet is a 2.8 LWB or SWB. Averages about 28-32 mpg by all accounts. Torquey engine and reliable.
Later models from 98' on the 2.2 DTi is a good bet, available in SWB and LWB goes like a rocket and returns 30-40mpg.

Im on vq9 as well, same nickname as here

Cheers Doris i thought i recognised the name,i'm only wanting to pay 500-700 for one so how much do the 2.2 fetch cos i like the sound of that,only prob with those engines though is they can tend to suffer from cam chain if irrc

I very much doubt a 2.2DTi could be found within your budget unless your willing to do some work on it.
A 2.8 does fit your budget and was only made from 95' to 96' so will be either a N or P plate.

97'/98' 2.5TDs is a good engine when it works right, available SWB/LWB, its all fly by wire.

Hi Chris, i am also on vq9 you will know me as
shamika welcome to fog mate and get a
2.5tds they are a great motor faster off
the mark than the 2.8 and better but thats
my opinion.
