hello, im a newbie with a 1992 2.3td lwb.....

ive allways wanted a lwb frontera and after a recent crash in my fiat cinquecento i fancied a bigger car.
i got it for £550 and within 2 weeks had spent a further £450 having clutch done. all is fine now apart from some dodgy electrics.
also, there is 225 tyres on the front and 255 on rear, should they all not be 255?
mpg i think is good, about 480 on a full tank. i use it as my daily drive which on the way to work is very hilly and i find that it needs a lot more power.
of course i wanted the 3.2 but ive already got a gas gussler which is my pride and joy a 2001 hsv gts 5.7 v8 and can be seen here http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3188901

Hi,
the tyres should be the same size but it depends on the profile 70% 80% etc that determines the rolling radius.
For non 4 x 4 it is not a problem.

30 mpg is normal

there is a thin rubber [or sometimes plastic pipe] that runs across the front of the valve cover from the inlet manifold to the top of the fuel lift pump.
this is attached to a diaphragm valve [similar to advance unit on old style petrol distributors]
this gives excess fuel for acceleration when disconected you have a slugish frontera!
very often split on the inlet manifold end.

Better on fuel if disconnected but kills acceleration!

tyres on my 2.3 and 2.4 -
have gone for 255/70/15 @30psi all round.
tyres£55 + vat each fitted x 5 NEXEN A/T.
Nearest to original fit ment at a good price. same rolling radius.

Hi and welcome to fog.Lots of help on here and some very funny stories and useful info on what peeps do with and to their fronty's.Ive had my 2.3 for 3yrs at Christmas and really like it. Daily to and from and work vehicle. I quite like it as it is,although have had ideas to do things to it, latest is to fit a discovery folding seat in the back so I can take all 6 of the family out.Get 34mpg around town solo more on a long run drastically less when towing.
