Yes, think thats the name.

That blue cable goes from the modem to the router then another goes from the router to the pc.

If you have a wireless cable router, then normally there is a dedicated socket on the router for you to connect to the modem (with the standard ethernet cable). If you try just jumping the modem to the router/switch/hub/whatever, then it most likely won't work as the modem will only support a single connection. The cable routers take that connection and shares it between your home network, but a "normal" router doesn't know how to do that.

Presumably you mean to make sure that the cable modem is connected to the port marked "internet" or suchlike on the router, and the client pcs are plugged into ones marked "lan" or suchlike (4 seems to be a comon number). My Uncle's place is on that principle - cable modem to router, then 2 client pc's and a wireless point plugged into the Lan ports.

I have a brand new D-Link N router here but it doesnt work, Virgin gave it me with the 50meg but it wouldnt power up, got warm but no lights, they sent me another a day later so got this one here if anyone can make use of it, fix it or the like, my feeling is its the power receiver thats faulty in the router unit.
