Any PHP Scripting experts out there?

Any PHP Scripting experts out there?

Postby headbanging on Fri Oct 30, 2009 12:11 pm

This may be a bit of a long shot, but I know the power of FOG, and thought I would give it a try, as no where else has been able to help so far.

I have a few websites that run on open source php scripting. I have a problem with one them, and cannot see where the problem is, or what is going wrong.

To begin, all the links are in place, and everything works, until I click one link, and then I get a blank page. Totally white, with nothing there (not even white text). I then clcik to view the page source, and this is also blank. Nothing on the list at all, not even a <?php

The URL is displayed as www.mysite/catalog/correctfile.php and when I type the URL in the address bar, it works.

I have tried uploading clean copies of the files, but that didn't help.

I have tried copying files from a known working site, but that didn't help, and the problem persists.

I have posted this on other sites, but no one seems to be able to help. So do any FOG experts know where I can begin to look to find out what the error is thats causing the blank page?

PS the programme is OSCommerce and the problem is with the Checkout, namely checkout_process.php

If you want to PM me the details I'll check it out for you :)

Do you have access to the server it's running on? tailing the log files usually tells you exactly what the problem is.

Should probably mention I was a PHP developer moons ago and i'm currently a sys admin/tech analyst for a webhosting company aannnddd I run OSC on my own site :)

Hi Domino,

Thanks for that.

I have checked the Error logs using C Panel, and it's not showing as an error in there. Which is what is throwing me out.

I will send a PM with some more details.

Thanks

Just thought I would reply to this, as we now have the problem solved.

Domino didn't tell me the exact problem, but was just able to say a few words, that triggered a few ideas to get the problem sorted, and for that I am very gratful. After 2 days of hair pulling, we were there within an hour.

There are times when you stare so long at a problem that you can't find the solution.

And the last place I expected to find a solution was FOG (after the 'official' forums failed abissmally), Well done FOG! and thanks again to Domino :D

Glad to have helped.

I often find myself in similar situations - you work on something or stare at it for an age and you get nowhere. A fresh pair of eyes can pinpoint it straight away or, like you say, alter your thinking slightly. I've been very embarrassed by stuff like that before
