  Hi All, I've just purchased a 1995 2.0 sport for a weekend toy, and thought I'd join a forum. I used to have a Landrover series 3 88 inch truck cab which had a fearsome appetite for half shafts, and oil despite not being off-roaded that hard (weekend use only for clay pigeons and occasional rough shoots) and the comfort was nowhere near the frontera - which is warmer as well as the heater actually works, and after 1 day 'playing' on sunday, as capable as the old landy! I've been looking for one for quite a while and a little gem appeared on EBAY for £600 (1 lady owner for the last 9 years) with Tax until end October and MOT until end August 2010. The engine was replaced last year (receipted), the gearbox / clutch were replaced in Feb this year (again receipted), its got 9 years of service history and is suprisigly clean with no rust (slight bubbling on front bonnet edge and the Bull bars look like they would appreciate a dab of hammerite but apart from that, its tip top!. Ive dropped the car into my local friendly Main dealers (VX) where a friend works as a service manager (handy for parts and use of ramps at the weekend - for a couple of pints!!) and its been given a clean bill of health. Is there anything I should watch out for with this model? I've seen a couple of posts about cracked bulkheads etc Anyway, Great to be part of the club, hopefully chat soon!! Welcome to the Forum mate. Ive had 2 shorty's and not had a problem with the bulkhead but i know they do crack around the clutch area. Enjoy mate!!!!

Like Bobbinsjob says, why not come to one of our meets near Maidstone. Next big one is on Sunday 25th October viewtopic.php?f=63&t=27824Had my sport now for 2 years and had a few problems but only 1 thats common (clutch master cylinder) and a new one was only £42 for Milners Cheap to run. Easy to work on, mod, and fix, and the halfshafts don't need changing every weekend  Sounds like you got a good sound buy so you shouldn't have any problems for a while (unless you do something silly) Welcome to FOG

i to had an old landy (1959 series2) and find the fronties much more fun ,warmer and more comfortable.
If you have any troubles with your fronty you will find 99% of the answers on here somewhere

Thanks all for the warm welcome! I hope to get out and about and a bit of mud in my boots in the near future, hope to catch up with some of you. Had a greasy hour last night with new toy (well 2 or so until the War Office dragged me in for dinner and an ear bashing about her getting fed up of talking to my feet sticking out from under a car!!) , and suprise suprise almost everything works, even the electric mirrors, windows, lamps, just the back door lock is tempremental (central locking?) but hey! Its a 14 year old car Is it just me, or is DRIFT a bit of a legend in here? Been reading a few of his posts and by god he seems to know his stuff!! Catch you soon! John

Hi A friend et Al...  didn't quiet realise how many posts DRIFT has put in!! He should change his name to "Helpful Haynes" the Man-ual! Easier to understand and a lot more accurate!
