If you want a Wayfinder password then join GLASS. The only way you can get a Wayfinder password is to join one of the organisations that supports Wayfinder. It is not free to come and use. The rest of us pay for it in some way shape or form. And if anyone decided to give out their password to it then I am afraid that I'd withdraw my own support of the site.. A password is there to PROTECT the information that we pay to use and update! rob_clarke, think seriously before you give your password out. I know for a fact that plenty of users of THIS site will object strongly, not to mention all the members of GLASS as well as many other sites that use Wayfinder. So in reply to your open question of if nobody objected.... I'm afraid that I would object. I didn't pay for the use of that site for people who haven't paid to get in for free... Turbochops has been trying to get someone to give away their password for several weeks now and it's just become too annoying for me to stand by and watch it happen. www.4x4search.org - your 4x4 search engine. 100% human submitted and edited!

Si, its been opened up and is free to all users.
I is so as many lanes and user information as possible can be logged as possible in an effort to save the lanes. So any lanes you use submit the user info and get it logged. The CRAG site had access to this just a a bonus (for want of a better word) The fees where fundamentaly to promote the "cause" and carry out maintainance of lanes ect. Ste Ste

Right lets set the record straight. There is more than one way of accessing wayfinder. Ranga is right in one respect that you use to have to be a member of a club or user group to access it. But on the 17th November a FREE version of the site was opened up to anyone who had an intrest in using the green lanes. (see press release or here http://www.way-finder.co.uk/?pageref=16012). It is this i am after a password for.
I registerd for this version (which i might add asks for no personal information apart from an e-mail address and affiliation to a user group) Unfortuatly there is a problem with my ISP (AOL) that it is automaticaly deleting all password e-mails sent out to it by the wayfinder site. (spam filter) I have been in contact with wayfinder who are trying to resolve the issue (i have an e-mail to this affect, if anyone doubts what i am saying). All i was after is to borrow someones FREE password untill my account can be resolved/activated. I have not been repetadly asking for a password as Ranga states, I have not posted again to that effect and I fully agree with Truggas statement about giving out a password which contains personal information, but the information I enterd on the wayfinder site did not even ask for my name. I understand that others who have registerd to this site via GLASS or some other orgainsation which have paid for the service may of enterd more personal information, but it was never my intention to obtain this type of password through this site. I hope this clears it up. TC PRESS RELEASE 17th November 2006 for immediate release ---------------------------- FIND YOUR WAY WITH WAYFINDER ---------------------------- Anyone throughout the UK can now get rights of way information free of charge for their local area. Wayfinder is an online database of public rights of way that contains details of over thirteen thousand routes that are open to the public. This information will be invaluable to everyone, from those looking for somewhere to casually walk their dog to the most avid mountain biker or horse rider. Wayfinder was started six years ago for the benefit of the members of a small number of clubs. Until now access has been very limited. But it has grown into a resource that will benefit anyone who wants to get out and about in the countryside. For this reason it was decided that membership should be opened up to everyone who wants to find out more about rights of way. The UK has a unique heritage of paths and old roads that provide an ideal way for anyone to get out and about and enjoy the countryside. They offer an opportunity to get away from the hussle and bussle of the busy world and also provide an enjoyable way for the whole family to get physical exercise and mental relaxation all at the same time. Not only does Wayfinder tell users where rights of way are located, it also allows users to record the fact they have used a path which is essential information that can be used to protect rights of way for future generations. Wayfinder also allows users to report problems such as obstructions and this information is fed back to local councils so that they can effectively deal with such problems. Anyone who would like a Wayfinder account should visit the Wayfinder website at http://www.way-finder.co.uk/ Last edited by Turbochops on Tue Nov 28, 2006 11:27 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Si i think they are looking at this It has become free to anyone, mate, for good or for bad. Mat
For information...
There are TWO "Wayfinders" 1 is accessible through and maintained by GLASS (requiring each user to be registered with GLASS or an affiliated body). 2. is a copy based on the GLASS version that is run and maintained by CRAG which as since been opened up to all (allthough you still need to register) Lawrence
Ahhh, my bad. My apologies to all..
Didn't know there was a new free version.. I might even have to go have a look, but surely it won't be as accurate will it? Talking of that I have to update the other wayfinder with my last exploits... Turbochops... sorry mate.. jumped on the bandwagon too quickly. www.4x4search.org - your 4x4 search engine. 100% human submitted and edited!
Its ok mate, i can see how it might of looked not realising there was a free version. As it happens I have created a yahoo e-mail address and have managed to access it that way. It seems both AOL and hotmail are rejecting posts off wayfinder. TC
