Congratulations on a great result , just out of interest from the great pic`s the jeeps appear very "standard" how did they cope with the event ?

the jeeps werent to bad, they were all on road tyres from i could see, would have been a whole lot better with some decent skins on,but to give the lads who were driving them credit they gave em some "ommer" and had a go at everything,as for our trugga he put up a good fight and raised a few eyebrows  ,being the only frontera owners there,we had a good welcome, swappped banter, and I for one fully intend to gave a Go,the first chance i get

Aye the jeeps were all on road tyres the suspension looked slightly lifted and as for the "ommer" given the one thought he was on tickover if he came off the rev limiter

And i also will be giving it a crack at the earliest oppurtunity

Well done lawrence. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself!!

Tyros are the more gentle introduction to Cross Country motorsport - the angles of slopes etc are restricted and car mods are not required (in fact your car probably would be banned from our tryros!). The idea is to NOT damage the car. An excellent type of event to start with!

Last year I was doing RTVs, which are somewhat more extreme and usually potentially or actually car damaging. You'll really enjoy those!

So much fun and a lot of interest. I wonder if TYRO/RTV is the next step forward for those looking to test their 4x4 driving ability, or just have a damn good time trying in a safe and organised environment.

The Green Cherokee (owned by the tall bald bloke with the green t-shirt in the vid, who incidentally lives round the corner from me), won the SORC championship last year, although he was using mud tyres for that season. He's using road tyres this season for a laugh and even let a mate enter in the same vehicle.

The whole day was relaxing and not a negative word was spoken about the Frontera, despite the number of Landrovers taking part. Remember the Landrover that was found in the ditch on White Stones a few weeks back by the novice laning group - they were stuck for two hours trying to recover it.

When not driving the sections, there was a lot of chit chat with the other drivers and of course the discussions on how to tackle the various obstacles. All told it was a very enjoyable day, the cost of which was fuel there and back, a little more fuel to get round and a £20 entry fee.

To take part, you need to be a member of their club or be a member of another MSA club, so it might cost a little more (1 years membership of SORC is £25, although you can have 6 months membership for £15 from the end of June)

I'm sure a LWB Frontera will get round the course and being over a 100" wheelbase will be allowed 1 announced shunt (single reverse and reattempt).

Come on then Dave - which one are you going to enter ? SORC have a few planned before the year is out: SORC Calendar

TYRO: Latin for novice or beginner
RTV: Road Taxed Vehicle
