Can't up date AVG!

Sorry ....Have tried up-dating AVG today and it comes up with ''Invalid update control CTF File'' ?
I did click on a link before hand and my screen went black and a box opened with a load of writing and said windows was shutting down, I started up the pc and tried updating AVG and couldn't
So can someone please tell me (in simple terms Please) what I can do please?

Probably easiest way would be uninstall it,then download a nice fresh copy,

I had same problem roo. I tried everything but it still would not update
I had to reinstall avg and all seems OK now

Unofficial comment from a friend inside the AVG team :-

"Oops" (yes, that is exactly what she said before running off to tell them to fix it)

The latest download will cause a few issues with some installations, will be put righ in the next update or can be fixed by re-installation.
