Urgent IT help required !!!!!!

Hi All,
this is a request to all the tech heads from the world of IT.
my works laptop has crashed and i have managed to rescue it to some degree but i now have the following problem....

Everytime i go to boot up it comes up with the message 0xc0000001 and i have found out that it is to do with the SAM file, now i know i could copy it from the reapair function of the bootup disk but the problem is that everytime i start it it asks for a password, which i guess is held in the SAM file cos it won't accept anything.....or nothing as the password.

Any help on how, if it's possible to rectify this would be great cos as i said it is my works laptop which has all sorts of customer info and invoices on etc.

As you have probably guessed am writing this on my desktop PC cos its the only one that works

I had this once before.
Followed the microsoft advice here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316751 and got mine working again, but it is only for XP
Could be worth a try. Can't help you if your using Vista

Ive not had that problem before but click on this link http://www.tek-tips.com and post your problem on there.Found it usefull in the past.You might have to register its free anyway.
