Wild Welsh Camping Weekend March 20th -22ndOur Phil aka Sir Doris, has yet again foolishly, ahem, kindly agreed to lead a group around the lanes surrounding the Machynlleth area. Camping will cost £4.50 per person, per night, showers cost 0.20p, or more depending how dirty you are. There is a good pub/hotel just down the road But I think we may need a couple of designated drivers to get us all back safely For those of you that cant travel down on the Friday night, please arrive early on the Saturday as we will be leaving the campsite by 10.00am If there is enough interest in this weekend we will obviously split the group. Please add your name to the lists below. This should be a good one Graeme. If 2 groups Il be nominating/requesting a 2nd leader. Im working on the routes as we speak and will email the overlay to whomever wants the job. So far day 1 looks to be about 30KM of lanes. Some of the lanes are fairly close together, others are a few miles apart. Either way a full day's laning is involved. those of you with road biased tires may need a tug or 2 at some point but nothing extreme. Generally the surface will be rocky/shale with a few muddy sections. Day 2 Depends on how people are feeling after Saturday night Plenty of other lanes within spitting distance and I have a rather nice, intermediate route West of Aberystwyth, nothing too challenging but I have to run it beforehand as someone has told me that a farmer/s has locked a couple of the gates on it. The lanes are much closer together on this one but with stops etc it should still take the better part of a day to complete. Should be easily done on standard road tires as most of the surfaces on this one are rocky/shale with a few possibly muddy sections. If any parts of this route are blocked off I will try and find alternatives. Maps will be provided on the day, although I can only print in A4 so may be a little small but its nice to see where you have been. I will at some point be checking out the B*****d lane to check suitability, I do however recommend this time round if we do attempt it that we do it first rather then last
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it! Me Truck
